Since I don't play that game, what exactly is wrong with it? Completely unbalanced? Buggy? Bad flow due to engine or lag issues? Too many bots? What?

Well for starters they have level 50's going against level 15's in the bg's. Second, some classes can kill you during one stun. I had an OP knock me down with full health and kill me before my character stood up. Third, it's nothing but jumps to your face, pull you away, or knocks you off shit. When attacking a tank it seems like your attacking an elite mob that takes no damage. This is made worse if he has anyone throwing a heal. While your attacking them with their health bar not moving they are raping your face. Granted this is coming from a mage class toon. I am sure if I was a tank or and Operative the outlook would be much better. It's really clunky and bad. They have much work to do. My focus will be PVE because pvp is a complete joke. I would rather log in wow and do bg's than play that awful pvp in swtor. The pve game is the reason to play swtor. PVP is a joke at this moment.

Operatives/Scoundrels had a bug giving them 100% crit rate on certain abilities. It was fixed last night.

If you want to play ranged style PvP, you pretty much needed to pick Commandos/Mercenaries. They have the raw mitigation to just stand and turret mode. Which is the only way to play ranged with the follow bug.

Sages/Sorcerors require mobility to get the job done and right now with the state of autofollow that isn't going to work out well for you.

My Commandos are on the shelf currently, but one of them is wearing full Champion gear, the other is 7 of 11 primary pieces. They are insanely good once you get the kinks worked out of autofollow. That said they have no mobility currently due to the autofollow bug and this limits their actual game winning effectiveness to defending a cap on Alderaan, or controlling the huttball spawn point. They do much better defending voidstar than attacking.

My Sentinels will hit 50 tomorrow morning, I've already PvP'd with them extensively and they are a train of rape. The DOT spec, watchman for republic is fantastic. Leap counters the follow bug to a large extent. Without heal support yes you are going to get KO'd quickly, on huttball you will get knocked all over the place. This is why sentinels are fantastic. Leaping can mitigate the issues of being knocked around. It gives you the mobility to transition from platform to ground level or back rapidly.

Additionally, I would never PVP with more than 2 characters currently in the WZ's. Action is too fluid, too many characters in one location with the current mobility issues is going to be almost 100% lose.

In terms of PvP viability right now with the follow bug here is how I rate various classes.

    1) Sentinel/Marauder
    2) Guardian/Juggernaut
    3) Vanguard/Powertech
    4) Commando/Mercenary
    5) Gunslinger/Sniper
    6) The rest need not apply until they fix autofollow

What you are seeing here is basically any class that can charge is going to work well, and Commando's work well because they are sporting heavy armor deal insane DPS with grav/HIB/demo and can heal relatively well to boot. Once the game works out some kinds commandos very well could be the most dominating 2 box setup. They already are pretty dominating, the issue I have with them is moving much in PvP is an enormous hassle. I'm better off pitching a tent on a defensive position and providing some serious over watch.

With how I run my DPS macro's I generally arrange my DPS abilities one of two ways. For my commandos step 1 is autofollow and assist step 2 is DPS. This means I autofollow and then break autofollow to attack so I don't move and interrupt any abilities. With my sentinels I attack and then autofollow, so I attack and then immediately follow again.

This is what sets vanguards well behind Guardians and Sentinels at the moment. They are a ranged hybrid and this means that whenever they use those abilities they will stop cold to use them and then move again. This is not a big issue for Sent/Guardian because everything is melee everything is pretty much instant and you have distance closers.

Once I hit 50, I will maybe do a fraps video of my sentinels. So far my best game with them, level 39, was 190k and 178k damage respectively, 6 medals each, and 25-30k healing each. I'm fairly confident that at 50 I will be churning out 250k+ per character.

Finally to address the single bracket in PvP. It was necessary. We do not have battlegrounds like WoW and this is a fresh game. Bracketing the PvP up would have been unhealthy initially. They have said all through beta this was an early server mechanism only and they just announced today that sometime in January they will be splitting the 50's off, adding another intra-faction WZ, expanding the Ilum mechanics and a bunch of other stuff.

I have to disagree i for one enjoy the pvp a ton. Yes there are knock backs and ranged stuns that make you die really fast in hutt ball but image if they didn't exist you would be pissed because you had no means of stopping the ball carrier right?

As far as everyone in the same bracket goes its keeping the queue times low until there are actualy enough lvl 50's to have there own bracket without 45 min wait times. I honestly think what they are doing with pvp right now is amazing. you may not be able to go toe to toe with a lvl 50 at lvl 10 and win but you will def do some crazy damage to him before you die. stick around a healer or other people and assist each other dont go all rambo like most other nubs and try to solo someone 40 lvls higher.

Do i think they could improve some things? yes but when they turn into WOW and try to balance all classes so they are "equal" it totaly kills the game.

    I completely agree with this.

I like the PvP. Just the same as every other MMO out there, they always start off a bit wonky, or unblananced, and over the next years and patches, the system will get revamped, and balance changes, etc etc... and people will complain about those too. I must point out that if it was a fact, that it was so horrible, near no one would be doing PvP. I see the opposite on our server. 4-5 min queue times, and a load of fun.

The pvp in this game is amazing. Do not let a couple of nay-sayers sway you from trying it. Every class has a stun, interrupt so its not unfair. If you do not like being stunned then roll a tank and get the defense perk.

I level completely in PVP doing my class quest in between ques. You get tons of exp, valor and credits. You can cap on "Honor" marks in about 2 hours. You can seriously buy a full set of pvp gear in half a day of work. Its amazingly simple and fun.

Yes you do que against every level but they raise your hitpoints and skills to match the highest player in the que. So the only thing you really miss out on are the higher level skills you get from leveling.

Who exactly are you talking to? Didnt see anyone telling people not to try it...Fanbois always make me laugh.

I have about 200 games of warzones under my belt and 100 of those are at lvl 50, I feel after that period of time I can voice my opinion and its a simple one at that. I enjoyed the leveling process and about the first 50 games of warzones. After the 21st of January and my free month is up my sub will end.

I recommend everyone try it if you are curious, who knows maybe you will like it. I for one have decided that its not my cup of tea.

Isn't MMO pvp a little bit about button mashing at the right time? I am enjoying the story line in TOR, but I am not sure if I will continue after 50.

I have mixed feelings about PvP. I'm playing a sniper (47 atm not multiboxing yet) and i enjoy the burst/control I have, yet at the same time I don't feel like I can react as quickly as I can in WoW. (say a rogue/Operative opens on you)

My biggest issues are as follows:

Targeting is a pain. The fact that I have to rely on a broken tab targeting is annoying.
Ability Delay: This is the big one, since I've missed plenty of instants (interrupts) because I was still in an animation.

The game has potential, but I'm not sure if I'll resub at the end of January or resub all my WoW accounts.
