    Unhappy Too much like WoW?

I feel there are far too many elements taken directly from WoW. It's almost like WoW: Star Wars Edition!

I was hoping it wouldn't be so similiar. I do like the fact that I pay far more attention to quests than I did in WoW. There are mini custscenes with dialogue just like in the KoToR games which is great.

IMO I think they could have figured out a different travel system that isn't a direct ripoff of gryphs/bats in WoW, not used Rested XP, and not have Bind on Equip. I'm only level 9 so I'm sure I'll encounter more WoW like stuff soon.

Even my Sith Warriors abilities are extremely similiar to a warrior in WoW, with a mix of rogue in there.

I wonder how long I will play this until I go back to Eve? Only reason I stopped Eve was to check this game out (never played beta).

I guess it's gonna be very hard for any decent mmo to avoid 'wow stuff'. And quite a bunch of 'wow stuff" is most likely based on other (older) mmo's. My point being, many mmo's share many things, just like many shooters share the same things.

Too bad wow borrowed most of there stuff from other games as well, and just refined it, as bioware is doing. people are just so into wow they think everything wow did first and all newcomers are rip-offs.

remove head from arse, take deep breath, play what you like, proffit

yeah saying too much like wow... lets start this ladder.

Just from where i began... In order i played

Ultima online - game was fun back then... not so much looking back on it

Everquest - Probably the most innovative PVE that every game borrows some aspect from.

Dark Ages of Camelot - Best pvp game i've ever played. - Wow borrowed from using battlegrounds - pvp gear

Planet Side - fps rpg.. pretty much its own class

    World of Warcraft.
Every game after - Stole from Wow....

So... to sum up... wow borrowed from other games when it was created... now they are just building on what has been successful in future games... makes sense

well at the end of the day, it will be just "target based"(wow) vs "non-target based"(shooter, beat'em up). They chose the target based route. So no escape here, it will be like wow. I wished they picked non-target based and made it something like "dragon nest" "vindictus" beat'em up style, more action oriented. But that would probably limit the number players can fight together and push most of the calculation onto client (easy to hack). Dragon nest and vindictus are not straightly MMO as all they have is a glorified online lobby + co-op instance (probably more directly compared to Diablo). There isn't really a world.

So I am ok with SWTOR picking target based combat. I think if you are tired of MMO/target based combat all together. You are not going enjoy SWTOR that much. Probably should take some time off playing some other genre and come back when it will be fresh again.

Speeder travel... Let's see... Sure wow has A similar system.... But to my knowledge, daoc did it first.. So wow swiped that.

Rested exp... Is soooo nothing new.. Most games have had it for over a decade.

    Bind on equip items? Seriously?

The only game that this should be compared to is star wars galaxies... Since they are of the same franchise.

Oh good lord. Some of y'all might want to settle down (Beavis) and stop flipping the hell out about words and see the underlying point the OP's trying to make. You might even point out where SWTOR is innovating rather than acting like someone insulted your girlfriend.

Is anyone really surprised that SWTOR is basically reskinned WoW with a few extra bells and whistles? Really?
    Now playing: WoW (Garona)

Why reinvent the wheel when it works so well? I really enjoy Swtor so far.
“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”
