Boxing - mindset?

I'm in a social guild that has been making a good effort of get a raiding team together, I joined with my paladin tank and we did attempt Firelands, only a couple of weeks before 4.3 - when 4.3 came Firelands became obsolete and the raiding stopped.

Now they've just started to get a raid team together again, plus I was asked to be an officer of the guild (due to my wow experience).

I'm starting to have second doubts about all this now, it's starting to feel too much like 'work'.

With multi-boxing I like being able to log in whenever I want and just get on with things. Even though I log in most evenings, I feel a bit of a commitment phobe when it comes to organised raids and now even 'officer's meetings'.

I think I'll just opt out of both of these things.

Maybe it's just me but I wondered whether others felt the same way about why they multi-box.

I used to be the deputy-GM of my guild... it got old dealing with drama. I also used to be the raid leader for the guild but again kids being kids it got old. I am lucky to be in a casual guild but even then the drama is old. I think with my new priest team I will roll into a quiet solo guild and enjoy some me-time in this MMO.

But the other option is you attend some meetings and establish some no-drama clauses. Raiding should = no-drama as well. If peeps are butt hurt tell them to LFR. Keep it light. Keep it fun or tell them to step off. Failing that I have been known to /ignore some chumps before... to include one of my raid healers because he was a tard. So to prove how much he sucked I raid healed Beast of Northrend (Coliseum back in the day) naked on my druid... so had fun and ignored people that annoy you. Vent is also nice for muting people.

The main reason why I started to 5-box was because I wanted to be completely free. To log in and out whenever I want, to be able to alt-tab to e.g. check my email even when I'm inside dungeons and so on. When multiboxing I can play the way I want to, in the pace I want to without having to care about any other person.

In my experience, 90% of people I encounter in the "real world" are jerks (although I am including dealing with people in their cars with this).

The % is higher online.

I've been GM and officer in quite some guilds. It all comes down to what the guild is like. If you're the GM of a casual boxing guild, nothing is required exept for being online reguarly. If you're officer in a guild that wants to raid and make progress, then it requires a lot more effort.

If it's a nice guild, it should be fun to be an officer. I've had like 5 serious officer meetings in the past 3 years though, so here again. It comes down to how your guild deals with things.

So if you're allready doubting wether to be an officer, I would skip it. Since it might require you to be online when you don't want to -> drains fun out of wow. -> your loss.
