Druid Healers

In your opinion how do druid healers do as far as instancing goes?

Are their HoT's enough to solo heal a tank during the lowbie stages (Rejuv and Regrowth ONLY)? Or would I just better off Using a priest or pally, or possibly a shaman?

Maybe bring the druid up to a respectable level to get deeper into the resto tree would help, and bring the rest of the group up around that?



Currently I plan to 4-Box on a single machine. And no I dont want to do 5 xD.' Using the team makeup of either a Protection Pally/Protection Warrior, Two Warlocks, and a Druid healer. - I'm Just uncertain how a druids HoT's would be abe to hold up for soloing instances (Both Lowbie wise - DM, Stocks, SM. and higher end stuff - Strat/Scholo).

I was also thinking about doing 4 druids, one tanking 2 boomkin, and a healer.. But I'm still in the early creation process.



Comments, opinions, experiences and everything else are welcome. I just dont want to have to reroll later on.

I think you should be OK with a druid healer. I dont see why you would want to restrict yourself to just HOTS though. Pure HOT healing really only becomes viable once you get lifebloom at lvl 64. Before then you should be using your full range of heals including rejuv regrowth and healing touch. You throw rejuv / regrowth and then start using HT's if you get behind.

Limiting yourself to just HOTS is kinda silly.

I personally prefer priest for multibox-healing, and here's why: Many dungeon mobs / bosses damage not just your tank, but your other guys too. So in order to stay alive, your healer will have to spot heal not just your tank, but your other guys too. Now you could have a separate button to heal each party member when they get hurt, but for me that's a lot of micromanagement that I don't want to deal with. If you use your tank as your "MAIN" and the healer's heal assists the main, this retracts from your dps because your dpsers will not be able to assist Main on the mob you are trying to kill (im assuming you are using the same targeting scheme as me where the main tank's target is = the dps target)

So I use a priest with prayer of healing... if i see any character other than the main tank getting damaged, i just hit the prayer of healing button, it heals everyone in the party. It's usually not wasted heals because it heals the MT also.

My mindset is unique - Instead of tanking with a Protadin, I would much rather take the micromanagement requirements of a warrior tank.

I supose I would just want to know if a druid healer would be viable enough to solo insances eventually getting into endgame stuffs. Which for the required 5 mans, I WOULD be bringing in another of my close player friends, or family members.


I guess with my setup - Prot Warrior, Warlock x2, and Resto druid - I'm asking *if* a druid healer could match a priest or other popular healer for a 4 man solo on most instances.

rejuv / regrowth are the hots.
if you have more than one druid healbot, use em. Druid hots stack whereas all other healer's hots just refresh each other.

Tranquility: no, the skill has a 5-minute cooldown so using it more than once per fight is impossible

rejuv on each: this would require some serious creativity with macroing or micromanagement. I am really just too lazy to try to do something like that. Possible? Yes. Do i want to do it? no! =P

My current main is a 70 resto druid, which I mainly use for Arena (Pew Pre easy mode) Druids are great 5 man healers and life bloom is OP for spot healing. So in short, druid are good healers, and really any healer can deal with the lower instances easily (from my experience anyway)

I currently have my multibox team at lvl 28 (Prot Pally + 4 Elemtal Shaman been going for 2 weeks) I plan to drop 1 of the shaman and switch in my druid for healing end game PvE and to drop my pally for a friend playing the 5th in 5v5 Arena.

Druid healers are AWESOME in instancing, from 10-70. There are some heroics that may need you to spam alot if your gear isn't enough, but the same could be said for any healer.

At low levels, healing touches are the way to go. Hots aren't bad, but with limited intel gear, healing touches makes for more mana efficiency. You could probably still heal with Hots if you wanted though.

It isn't true that druids can only heal with HoTs after lifebloom. Using a druid, I have used him to heal in instances from 40 onwards. I have healed all outlands instances in -treeform- with the occassional NS+Healingtouch before getting lifebloom. Swiftmend is your oh crap button. The thing is to have a good tank and put up hots early on the tank rather when he is low health. Lifebloom helps alot when you finally get it, but as I said, I healed in SP, UB, Ramps and BF without it, in treeform.

AOE healing - Tranquility is a poor option compared to CoH/ PoHealing in terms of spammability. What I suggest is that in fights where you know you are going to take AOE dmg, you HoT up pre-emptively.

Healing with HoTs doesn't simply mean leaving Rejuv/Regrowth/Lifebloom running out. You can spam a lower rank of Regrowth as a replacement for healing touch (its slightly less mana efficient but gets better in treeform - next patch regrowth mana cost reduces another 20% though!) so that it does not override the higher rank HoT component of regrowth. You also need to keep lifebloom rolling at 3 stacks.

With multiple 'boomkins', you just have to leave 1 of them in boomkin form, while the others can throw HoTs, then proceed to pew-pew while the HoTs do their work.

Overall, sure, itll take abit of work, but with proper /castsequence (rejuv, lifebloom, regrowth, lifebloom, regrowth rank 7 lifebloom, regrowth 7 , lifebloom) etc. its still possible to keep the tank maintained at full healh while still casting HoTs.

As does GoTN.

Any HoTs will stack, much like DoTs stack on enemies. It was a much needed change in BC. The trick here is, only Priest and Druids have trainable HoTs.

Personally I'd pick a healer with a normal res, if no-one else in your party can res then you're left with 3 resses (2 ss, 1 cr) all on a cooldown. With a normal resser you can keep them soul stoned and get your party up faster after a wipe.
