Hello Kris1234,
I've been more and more inclined to box 4 from release. The only thing against it is the question about swapping as I can't see how to manage a toon (loot, equip, etc...) without bringing it to the main screen,
Did you have any problems? How did you manage it?
To Lax:
If I'm right about this limitation (and please do correct me if I'm wrong) is there a possible solution for this in the future, given time and research?
I also have another question, I have the following machine:
i7 920 @ 2.67GHz
12 GB Ram
ATI 6970
You think this will hold 4 boxing for SWTOR?
Thank you all,
A.

It's not as bad as you're thinking. The trick is that you just don't use a style of Window Layout that would make swapping slow. My suggested method is to use a Full Screen Stacked layout (meaning they are all the size of the full screen, and you don't actually see the other windows unless you swap to them, which will be instant) and then use Video FX either as Picture-in-Picture, or using dxNothing as a blank window to put them in.
I am working on new features for ISBoxer 40 to simplify this even further and make Video FX even easier to use. Anyone using Windows Vista or later with Aero enabled will probably just forget about that limitation because this should be just as easy to configure and I think it'll be much cooler.

You have my vote too!
Thank you so much Lax. I finally understood the concept of the dxNothing. I'm aware of the post on your forum about this but I never really understood what the hell was happening on the second screen... untill now. What we see there are selected live feeds from the stacked windows behind the main window.
I had never used it before (neither the stacked windows nor the live feed on the dxnothing) so that'll be my first goal as soon as I can get my hands on the game.
Anyhow, if we just play it stacked without minding about watching what the slaves are doing, swap is ok (performant), right?
In terms of performance, playing this way (stacked+dxnothing feed), is it a gain or a loss?
Cheers,
A.

Performance-wise, there IS a minor hit from using Video FX. However, unless your CPU is already hammered you should not notice it. And yes, if your Window Layout is configured with all the windows the same size and no resizing business going on, swap is always instant![]()

Yes, unless you are on Windows XP, or the monitors are on multiple video cards. But usually (for most people) if you've got 2 monitors and 2 characters, you probably don't want them to swap. (And personally I would be managing that second screen space with dxNothing + Video FX from the different windows)
