Until the characters hit level 50 and acquire all your skills / attacks. People may need to update their setup a couple times to account for this. I.e. alter channel attacks / skills to remove the /autofollow, vs straight out melee or instant ranged DPS keys can keep the /autofollow.
I saw no issues with the "fix" as implemented. I ran a melee team, 2 and 4 box, and ran a 2 box range and melee combo team. The game runs good.
it also pays off to have a separate "assist" key, so you can build aggro on something while the "others" finish another mob
I don't suffer from Schizophrenia, I enjoy every moment of it !
