Default PVE on 4dk with holy pala

    Hi,

I`m currently working on leveling 3 additional dk`s to join with my 85 dk and holy pala. I know that the setup is great in pvp and does some work in pve but I`m wondering how much pve content people can actually clear with it.

Besides that, I have an warrior at 77. Would it be worth to replace one of the dk`s with the warrior at that level?

Edit: I was also wondering, since I want to lore a bit on all 5. My paladin is a bloodsail murderer so he cannot do quests for gobbies while others can, getting rep back up for him is hard work. So I was thinking of adding a priest at 72. Any people experience with priests, shamans or druids on this setup? I don`t want to own in arena`s, I couldn`t care less. Just want to do achies, bgs, pve and maybe some rated bg with friends in the future. (shaman/druid healers are 85 as well)

Yep, I've done a number of heroics on my pally/4 DKs (in blood spec). BRC, VP, HoO, SFK, Lost City, some of the bosses in ZA/ZG, can't remember what else.

Didn't take much setup to get them doing heroics.

So I did GB recently with my DKs and failed miserably. here's the weird thing, I already killed the first boss and got the achieve on my first attempt. I went in again with better equipment and got smoked by the trash. It was a real head scratcher. Both attempts were in pvp gear. Now my druids team is doing pretty well, because they gain dodge from PvP gear where DKs don't gain any (our very little) avoidance. Druids are at like 32% dodge and lots of armor, DKs are at about 16% dodge and parry and very low armor.

I think next patch will help out DKs immensely with armor buff. Druids get a nice health buff though

Adding a Warrior to DK's adds a fair bit for PvP, at the cost of fewer things to round-robin with the DK's.
I know your thread is for PvE content.

If you want to drive a warrior, there's nothing to stop you from using one as your tank.
You get the extra shout, for health but I'm not sure if it will stack with Kings or not.
But then you could go with the Commanding Shout + Blessing of Might.

You could add a Priest to the mix too, if you like.
Then your Pally could be a Ret, or you could replace them.
More of a mix of classes is not as much of a detriment for PvE focus.

The Priest character can be a Healer or a Caster DPS.
The Paladin character can be a Healer, a Tank or Melee based DPS.
The DK's can be DPS or Tanks.
The Warrior is DPS or a Tank.

So decide who you want to heal the team with.
The Priest gets you Shackle (crowd control, vs Undead), AoE fear, Shield, strong AoE Heals, is a fairly strong mobile healer, Fortitude is a pretty strong buff.
The Paladin is a superb single target healer, will passively heal themself through healing others plus one other toon with Beacon; they have either Kings or Might, which is a strong buff.

Then decide who you want to tank with.
The warrior is demands more micromanagement, but that's not saying they cannot work and work well.
It is a preference thing really.
Even if you won't want the warrior as a tank, you might want one on the team to add diversity.

    Lots of choices.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

My 3 dk`s are still sitting at 71. Kinda feel burnedout on them. Started my old pala+4shaman setup it just doesn`t feel good knowing that pvp will be weird if I want to take the full team. Holy pala with 4 ele is weird when pala is main or slave. Holy pala + 4 enhance ismaybe a big fail haha. So much choices haha.

I`m just not to confident that melee dps will be to good in PVE. It feels that caster dps would do so much better. On the other hand, melee is a lot better in pvp. I just want a setup that is decend for both.

I can confirm that holy paladin + 4 ele shamans is weird. Paladin feels so out of place. Just play the 4 shaman.

Or level a 5th shaman. I like my paly with my shaman. Now that i use him to heal, it feels better.

Its awkward in that you dont get to use one of the strengths of shaman - mobility. Paladins slow down ghost wolf
