    Default computer help needed.

    ok i have 3 computers

    1st one Desktop

Pentium dual core CPU E5200 @ 2.50 GHz
    6GB ram
    NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250
    32" TV
    Windows Vista 64 bit
Windows Experience Index 5.2 (Memory Operations per second being 5.2)

Runs 3 windows ok as long as its not peak time or high grapic areas, can 5 box somthings but can get a bit laggy.

    2nd Comp Desktop

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 550 @ 3.20GHz
    7GB Ram
    AMD Radeon HD 6450
    Windows 7 64 bit
Windows Experience Index 4.5 (desktop Performance for windows Aero being 4.5)

Can run 1 window on dummys in org with no problems, try to do a BG or questing and it freeze's and locks out!

    3rd comp Laptop

    Celeron (R) Dual Core CPU T3500 @ 2.10GHz
2GB Ram (yes i know this will need more)
onboard Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series chipset (Suposedly 1GB Ram but is shared with the main Ram)
    Windows 7 64 bit
Windows Experience Index 3.3 (Gaming Graphics being 3.3, hence why more ram needed)

Can run 1 window on dummys in org with no problems, try to do a BG or questing and it freeze's and locks out!

Supose my question is here that the suposedy 2 better computers (the 2nd desktop and the laptop) should at least be able to run one window each, so is there a problem with windows 7 that i am not seeing as that seems to be the common factor or am i barking up the wrong tree?

    Thanks in advance

    Dougie

Graphics. 6450 = SUCK. Intel 4-series = SUCK. GTS250 isn't a high-end card but it's roughly equivalent to a 9800 or a Radeon 4850. Newer primary model number means only that you have the newer tech like DX11 support. Lower secondary model number means it's usually underclocked, has reduced shader/stream processor capabilities.

Primary model vs Secondary model is like so:
High end: GT 470, GT 260, GT 270
Low end: GT 430, GT 240
    High end: 6870, 4870
    Low end: 6450, 4830

I'd point you to a comparison chart that shows you how they measure up but those three cards are all now considered entry level/value cards. Not much you're gonna be able to do without upgrading.

    Cheers guys
so u think the problems are all Graphics card related, not a lot i can do about the laptop, apart from see if i can throw some more ram in, and the 2nd desktop is a pita, cos its a slimline basically the card i got for it was the only one in the area that was a smaller size

but that aside, the only thing i am asking these 2 comps to do is run 1 instance, not 2 or 3 like the older comp, so why the struggle.

You can get a trial account from the warcraft homepage.
I believe that can only go to 10th or 20th or so, and has a few limitations as well.
Regardless, you can see how each of the computers handles a copy of warcraft.

I'm not sure how they would do.
But testing will be a good way to find out.
Go somewhere like Stormwind or Orgrimmar which has a bunch of characters in one area.
That's probably a good stress test for each system.

    Allready got 5 accounts

as a single window they can run around fine in org at peak time, but i got to a BG using isboxer with multicomputer support, and they both struggle. 3 DK's, 1 on each comp.

the older comp runs fine, but the 2 "newer" pc's struggle

might have to give up for a while til i can scrape some spare money together and get decent GPU.

But thanks for your time guys
