What software for boxing are you using?

I use HKN

But if putting mend pet inside a castsequence, this will cause macro to stop if pet dies during combat right?
I know this caused trouble for me when a pet died during boss fights doing heroics in Northrend (before cata) so I have mend pet on a seperate button.

Cause there is no way in a castsequence to skip mend pet if no pet is available right?

Short answer Yes if the pet is dead then the macro is hung and useless BUT

pets ping pong aggro so well they hardly die

I have lost a pet to trash just a couple times
due to a bad pull i pull more than i wanted and then i select targets so fast that only the main pet taps them(this keeps aggro off the hunters)but then there is no ping pong 1 pet has full aggro and then he dies and all those mobs look for new targets i wiped like 3 times from this
so i just slow down make sure all pets tap each target and worked that out now pets dont die to trash

for bosses
I run aggro very close to tipping point so if a pet gets to 25% health i spam this macro
first you need to turn cower off auto cast so its always up

/castsequence reset=1 mend pet,cower,fervor,arcane shot,arcane shot,arcane shot,arcane shot,arcane shot

so we get an instant mend pet and then a damage mitigation of 40% for 6 sec and just incase your low on focus you get fervor(better a wasted fervor than the macro not doing its job) and then all the arcane shots you can pump out so hopefully by this time you have stolen aggro from the pets for them to have mend time let the boss pick at you for as long as your comfortable with then feign death and aggro goes back to well mended pets If one still manages to die you most likely have 2 (or more if boxing more than 3) good full health pets

and since our dps depends so highly on the pets you stop spamming the dps button just for a sec and hit res pet and back to the dps macro the others will still be on the dps while the one reses pet (the dps macro wont interrupt the channel)

I have won boss fights while cycling through res pet on all toons as long as there is still a pet up you can always res and get others in the fight
