Default X-Keys Pro, problems with moving

I just received my X-Keys Pro and I'm in the middle of getting it configured.

The problem is that I'd like to use it for movement keys (WASD) as well as casting, buffing etc. The casting and buffing keys work just fine.

But the keys that have to stay held down, like the movement keys (WASD) barely anything happens. The main toon might nudge forward a bit, and if I rapidly tap a movement key maybe I'll get a little further but that's it. I've looked around some of the macro functions of the MacroWorks II software, but doesn't seem like there is an answer there.

This problems happens regardless of which X-Key button I use, so it's not just a bad key. As I mentioned, it works fine for the commands (buffing, casting etc) that don't have to stay pressed.

Is there something simple I'm missing? Thank you for any assistance.

It's in the X-keys manual, you have to turn it into a repeating key I believe as it says all keys come as non repeating. Using Esc+Left Shift. Not sure if you have to also reprogram your key press that it sends.

    HTH!

    Thank you for the response.

The "manual" that was sent with X-keys Pro was a single sheet of paper. I'm not sure what you mean by "Escape+Left shift." The help file that comes as part of the application doesn't really say much.

Macro Works does have a repeating key option, but it barely nudges me forward, and that's set at the maximum of 25 presses per second.

Can you help me out with what you mean by "Escape+Left shift?" Thank you!

Hrm, manual came with mine. But anywho.. PDF of manual

What you want is on page 4 (repeating key)

Edit: Just noticed you mentioned the USB version software (i think). Dont know if these same instructions apply for that version. You many need to look at the xkeys site for the usb manual and follow those steps for repeating keys.

Sorry, I did not get back to the forums till now. Yeah, I'm using the PS/2 version so we got different X-keys...

Are you holding down the key? You have to hold it down for it to repeat x number of times per second like a regular keyboard key. If you are holding it down and it's still not repeating then maybe resetting it and send the programming to the unit again?

Thank you again for the responses, and for the link.

Yes, I have the USB version. I tried the Esc+Shift combination, and that doesn't seem to do anything, but I suspect the PS/2 and USB versions may be different in that regard.

Looking at the two manuals, for the PS/2 version and USB version, it looks like there are different ways for programming the X-Keys Pro? The MacroWorks II software isn't included at all with the PS/2 version?

I guess what I need to find is someone with a USB version who has WASD keys working correctly. The product is advertised for gamers at least in part, so I can't imagine that WASD functionality is impossible, but for the life of me I can't figure it out.

I have the USB version too and had the same problem... there is a very simple solution

you have to set a key release action from the edit menu.

Press W then from the menu select it as a key down action

in the release section press w again and set it as a key up action... works like a charm

Thank you so much! That did the trick.

For future reference, in case anyone else runs into this problem:

These are the steps to get WASD (or other movement keys) working correctly with X-Keys Pro.

    1. Open MacroWorks editor (or flip the switch on the side of the unit)
    2. Hit the key on the X-Keys Pro that you want to program.
    3. Select "On Release" under the Insert menu, this will create two areas for text to be entered.
    4. In the top area, enter the movement key (example: w), and then select "Key Down" from the Insert menu. This will place a little downwards arrow after the letter "w". Note: the Key Down command must come *after* your text.
    5. In the bottom area, enter the SAME movement key (example: w), and then select "Key Up" from the insert menu. This will place a little upwards arrow after the letter "w". Same warning here about making sure the commands are in the proper order.
    6. Close MacroWorks editor
    7. Movement key should work now, just as if you are using it with a conventional USB keyboard.

Heh, I actually called X-Keys on this problem because I got the same one piece of paper manual. I tried to download the PDF but the were having server issues. Quick call cleared it up.

I am still having issues with my space bar though so flying is an issue when I want to go straight up.
