Default Pally tank druid heals 3 arcane mages

As the title suggests. Probably looking at starting that group for heroics at 85. Gonna instance level them all the way. What you guys think of this composition?

Note, I haven't tried all heroics yet, and not in a while as I have been working on gearing up to overgear them.

I am starting to like warrior tanking better and better. Seems easier to hold aggro. My feeling is that Pally takes a while to ramp up aggro. Where as warrior is rend+thunderclap and it just sticks.

My druid healer is really starting to shine, probably because I've been working on finding an efficient way of healing. So I rarely run out of mana.

Arcane mages are a lot of fun and sorta easy mode. They do a ton of damage, but with 3x ele shammies you do get the totems which does make healing a bit easier, but once you get the hang of healing, then it shouldn't matter.

But someone with more extensive heroic expertise will be better at answering this.

Why dont you swap a mage for a shaman ;-)

I guess the reason I wanted 3 mages was for pure DPS to burn things down fast. Would a shaman drop dps by much?

but add with totems as you mentioned
The good thing about Mages is mirror images, allowing you to be threatless, but since you have a tank+heals, might as well benefit from other classes i would think

with arcane mage and heroics you could spam arcane blast the whole time and then evocate and do it again. So ya I think they would do a lot more dps. On longer fights you might have to use Arcane Missile procs, but on a whole due to most bosses having low health compared to raids you should be fine.

I like the setup, though I'd always go for druid tank & pally healer (but the other way around works well ofc, it's just personal preference). Yeah you miss a couple of buffs when not having a shaman, but 3 arcane mages make up for that, both in ease of rotation, output and their tools (mirror images and ice block through an aoe phase eg).
Everything that is fun in life is either bad for your health, immoral or illegal!

Thanks for all the suggestions. The reason I thought Druid healer is for the aoe heals. Just thought Jt would be easier keeping everyone alive then using a palsy to heal. I thought with pally tanking he can heal himself with wog in tight moments to take some of the pressure off the Druid healer. Will start this group to tonight and keep updates in this thread.

So far so good. Level 8 ATM so nothing too extreme. Took me forever to set everything up how I like it but should be all fine now. Hope to play a bit more tomorrow and get them in dungeon finder ASAP.

any team with 3 mages is a blast.

I had a pally/3mage/priest team at 70 that i ran outland heroics with, and in some cases they actually killed too fast. The boss in (mana tombs? sethekk halls?) that pops the elementals every at 25%, 50%, 75% health - i started the fight and was suddenly surrounded by 12 elementals & wiped.

However, i also found that having totems made life a lot easier. I couldn't clear heroic ramps with that team (at 70) but did it easy with a pally/4shaman team.
