i just saw supernova post that, first one too...sucks.
thanks for the reply though
Seems like the epic gems are going to drop from raid bosses
http://www.tankspot.com/showthread.p...A-GhostcrawlerThe most detailed interview that covers Gems is the tankspot one.
L: Will we be seeing epic gems in 4.3?
GS: Great question, and yes, you will! The way we're hoping to set it up, and we kind of have this working but things could change before we go live, is when you kill a boss on normal or heroic mode, each player gets a geode, and when they open the geode there's a chance they may find an epic gem inside. If not, it'll have blue gems or something like that. We really want it to feel like an individual reward, and not something that the raid leader gets to have fun in deciding who gets the gems, or they all go to the guild bank or something. We really want it to feel like an individual reward.
They'll be somewhat rare. It may take the entire content cycle before someone has replaced every red gem they have, but they won't be so rare that you won't see them.
L: How is that going to work with profession bonuses? Blacksmithing with its extra sockets, assuming that you could get ahold of a full set of epic gems, seems like it would all of a sudden become the best profession.
GS: I think the epic gems are like 10 stat points over the current ones, so it's a nice boost, but hopefully it won't push everyone towards Blacksmithing.
L: So you'd only end up with like 20 extra Strength as a Blacksmith.
GS: Yeah, something like that.

But the word "ONLY" which people are focusing on at the moment is from the Eurogamer interview
Eurogamer: Are there going to be new recipes?
Tom Chilton: There certainly are quite a few new profession recipes. We also introduce the epic gems in this patch, and they'll be available only through the normal and heroic difficulty of the Deathwing raids.
Bummer, I raid on my main so thats alright but was hoping for least xmuting them on my alchemists.
Yes this sucks. Non raiders will probably never see these gems until they start nerfing the shit out of the new raid instance which will be right before expansion.

Yes usually the way, its kinda like the old hyjal way where you had to raid to have access to the epic gems.
But its not going to be a tonne of them floating around by the sounds of it.
I presume months down the track they will allow alchemists maybe to xmute it on a cd, and or maybe eventually have it come from some form of ore, but as you said be usually most likely to far into the patch before a new expac.
I will be raiding on 2 toons, though the chance to get an epic quality gem is slim from the sounds of it.
yay for the Northrend Exp change. YAY!
does this mean we can also go to Cata content at 78?
The epic gem thing kind of bums me out. I look forward to the first few weeks that epic gems are available. Also not being able to buy ANY T13 with valor will suxor as well 8( Not sounding like a fun patch for casuals. Unless that LFRaids are supper easy ( maybe boxable? )
But what do I care?.. I'm in a beta test that I can not mention.. that should keep me busy for awhile 8)
Currently 5 Boxing 5 Protection Paladins on Whisperwind Alliance
The Power of Five!!! ( short video )
Well they are going with 3 difficulty levels now so, I would imagine it will all be easily puggable atleast the lowest tier. I would also imagine the the epic gems will be sold cheaply after a couple of weeks.
Keep in mind we do intend to allow tier 13 set pieces to drop for those using the upcoming Raid Finder. Similar to the difference between normal and Heroic versions of tier sets, the Raid Finder set will have a lower item level than the normal and Heroic counterparts.
Set pieces from all three difficulty levels can still be mixed and matched for the two and four-piece bonuses.

Now playing: WoW (Garona)
Uh blizzard said it would take a raider almost until expansion to get all their gems. I'm going to guess if you see one on the AH it will be like 5k a gem until the expansion is about to launch and raid has been nerfed. Howe er I bet their will be a PvP gem vendor and further I bet they will cost conquest points.
