Default Team Destiny - Glory of the Ulduar Raider (10)

For anyone who has ever seen my prior posts, you know I'm a pretty big Mount Whore: http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=31597

Well, recently my wife also started 5-boxing and her first team is now 83-85. In addition to farming things like Onyxia, Vault, Kael'Thas, OS3D, etc for mounts, we've decided to start working on Glory of the Ulduar Raider 10-man for those Proto-Drakes! We realize that despite being over-geared for all these encounters, some of them are still going to be quite difficult, but we're up for the challenge.

So last night we started our attempts, and so far so good!

Orbit-uary - We got this, and 3 other achievements at the same time (Nuked from Orbit, Orbital Devastation, Orbital Bombardment). We used a similar strategy posted on these boards for the normal mode. We put the Siege Engines on opposite walls, motorcycles also along the walls in the corners, and we each controlled a Demolisher. We each stacked the Pyrite Debuff up to 10 and blasted the hell out of him. He was dead in a couple of minutes.

    Iron Dwarf, Medium Rare
    - This one actually took quite a while because the Dwarves kept dying before she would torch them, despite me trying to do minimal damage with the tank. The great thing about this achievement is that it is cumulative and you dont have to do all 25 in a single attempt. Not too bad, just tedious and time-consuming.

After that we were pretty tired and called it a night. Gonna finish the rest of the first wing today, and I'll keep you up on our progress!

    Day 2:

HUGE day today! Got 7 more achievements before we had to stop. Here's the info:

Stokin' the Furnace - EXTREMELY Easy! Spread out DPS (though even that was probably unnecessary) and burned him down. Probably didnt even need Heroism (Bloodlust for you infidels).

Heartbreaker - This was a bit more difficult than I thought, only because of the AoE damage combined with the need to keep moving the DPSs out of Void zones. Just tanked XT on the stairs, spread out the DPS in a circle, and had to keep moving them away from each other when they got pulled together. Took maybe 3 attempts.

I Choose You, Steelbreaker - Very easy. Just burn down the dwarf, then the Kvaldir, then Steelbreaker. Some AoE damage to heal through, but overall, very easy.

Disarmed - Another simple one. We burned the body down to about 30%. Then hit cooldowns, burned down both arms, dead.

Crazy Cat Lady - Again, quite easy. Wife's tank took aggro on her two tigers and drug them to one side of the room, I tanked her on the other, burned cooldowns, very quick death.

I Could Say That This Cache Was Rare - This was a bit harder. Took us about 5 or 6 attempts. Neither of us had ever done this fight before, so we didnt know the normal strats. I found it was best to keep tanks and DPS together and move out of the circles on the ground at the same time. Otherwise, we followed the strat to kill him as normal, used all cooldowns in the beginning, and killed him with about 30 seconds to spare.

Lose Your Illusion - I found this one to be very easy, but my wife claims it was very difficult for her group. What we did was she stayed in the arena and dealt with all the adds while I ran the gauntlet with me team up to Thorim. Once you get to his hallway, STAY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROOM! You get frozen if you go through the center of the hallway. Once we got him into the arena, burned all cooldowns, he died very quickly.

So thats where we stand now. 4 Achievements to go!

We started working on Knock, Knock, Knock on Wood , but it was the hardest one so far. After about 10 wipes, we called it off. I think it will help once the wife is 85 and has better gear. Her girls would die pretty quick. If anyone has ever boxed this before, or has some helpful hints on this, or any of the remaining 4 Achievements, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Couldn't have said it better. Good luck, regardless.

I've boxed Mimiron, Vezax, and Yogg back in the day. I've only played hard mode solo.

All 3, particularly Mimiron and Yogg, will be a challenge to box. I never say impossible - but it will def be challenging. Vezax should be trivial if you spread out to avoid healing him, even hard mode.

Im not positive but I think that your wife not being max level means she is getting hit much harder, like trying to bring a 79 to tank. I'd have to research it, but I believe thats how boss mechanics work. Not to mention her dps are hitting MUCH less often (casters need 17% at 85).

Yeah, we put the last 4 on hold for now. I'm just waiting for 4.2. I've got 4000 Justice Points and 4000 Honor points banked with all my toons. As soon as I can log in (what do you think, 6pm?) I'll be buying 3-4 359 Gear upgrades per character, each one getting a 2-piece bonus! Also waiting for the wife to get to 85 and get some post-4.2 Justice gear as well.

Reading up on strats and watching some videos. I think Freya and Mimiron will be easier than the last two. We may have to get some guild help on those.

You need 17% hit to hit a boss 3 levels above you (i.e. an 88 boss at 85 or an 83 boss at 80). The hit rating required is dependent on level difference between the mobs, not level difference from max level.

Your relative damage mitigation works the same way - based on level difference. So, his wife's characters are getting hit relatively harder, but it's no where near bringing a lvl 79 to tank.

I meant a 79 vs an 80 when Ulduar was top level.

I'm so confused by this statement. Bringing a 79 to tank Ulduar would the the same now as it was when Ulduar was top level (relatively, not including the nerfs/class changes etc). It's not like when Cata was released the mob levels inside Ulduar changed.

Lvl 83 mob is a lvl 83 mob and still has the same level difference to a lvl 79.
