Default ISBoxer loser seeking movement solutions.

I've just switched over from keyclone. I've read the refugee guide. I've watched the videos. I've searched the forum(s).
All I want is a way to move all of my characters at once (5boxing isboxer now; took me 3 days to get repeater regions to work) by the standard WASD keys (because that's the best way to move anything in history), but I want to be able to toggle it on and off.

    What I've done:

    1) I used the built in WOW KEY BINDINGS thing, which has commands like MOVEBACKWARD ready to be assigned. I assigned S, like any sane person would, and I can now back my people up. The problem is... when I toggle off Key Maps, it doesn't seem to affect anything I put in this column. Even with repeater and key maps toggled off, I go to type "Some Mississippi sassafrass" in chat and find my group has backed up to five separate continents.
    2) I decided that I only needed to be smarter than the computer, so I put my movement keys in the FTL DPS keys sub-tree. I know for a fact that ALT+SHIFT+M toggling keymaps makes sure that I don't repeat these, which are normally used for actionbar keys. However, putting movement keys in this section makes you now unable to move. In fact, all you can do is twitch in a given direction, but you never move (I think somehow you're sending 2 movement keys in the same direction at once? Iunno)

If I want to use WASD, like any freedom-lovin' American, but also want to be able to type those letters in chat without my group doing the dying-fish dance, what should I do?

Remember for movement keys make sure the hotkey has the option "held" instead of "pressed or released" so they continue moving instead of twitching. Now there is more than one problem here, but typing on a phone sucks, so hopefully someone else can answer the other issues.

Thank you for the reply. It didn't solve this issue, but I have the utmost confidence that it prevented the next issue.
I've found something, which I can't really grasp just yet but might be the answer:

" If turning off Key Maps doesn't turn off your Key Map, then it's because you have created a new Key Map (as opposed to adding Mapped Keys to an existing Key Map) which is not toggled by the Activate Maps mapping"

So if I figure out how to not do X and instead do Y (as mentioned in the above sentence which I'm still interpreting) I'll be able to have movement keys (Especially for break-follow or get-out-of-the-ground-AoE) but turn them off when I want to chat.

Maybe the problem is with me? I don't mean because I've underestimated my FAIL again, that's a given.... I mean maybe I'm asking for something the software can't deliver?

    Thumbs up

You did it! While typing on a phone! The final answer is:

    1) Click FTL DPS. Down bottom, right click Mapped Keys and "New Mapped Key"
    2) Hotkey it to W or whatever. From the pulldown right there, Hold Any Keystroke Actions while Hotkey is Held (set to ON)
    3) Steps: Target is window all w/ current, key combination is W.

I now have movement keys that can be toggled off when I chat with the standard ALT-SHIFT-M thang.
(Didn't see it before because in WoW bindings, the "Hold any keystroke actions while hotkey is held" is already on by default. It's off by default in FTL DPS keys)
    Thank you.

I made the switch about a year ago. All I can say is it just takes alot of playing with the settings to fully understand the software. I still have problems that I need help with. I totally reset all my setting a couple of time cause I screwed my setting up trying something new. But, in the process I learned something new each time.

So never be afraid to just start over new.

Movement like making all your toons sidestep or move forward and backward? And do you intend to use this as your primary movement? I use the /follow (integrated in ISBoxer) and the movement keys when in a fight, like to dodge an AOE and stuff.

I'm good now, Drarkan. I was just annoyed that when I turned off key maps (ALT+SHIFT+CTRL+M by default) to type something in guild chat, my people would still receive commands from keys I hit while typing.
So I had to not use the "WoW key bindings" where the movement keys are built in; I had to put them in FTL DPS keys instead, and use the pull-down to do the action when the key is held down.

After what, nearly ten years of this(?) I'm quite accustomed to using "R" and mouse to steer my main around, and she has a bound backwards key no one else has, and WASD are for those sacred times when you want to have everyone sidestep in a fight.

Me and ISBoxer weren't getting along for a while there, but we're cool now.

WoW Key Bindings does not have hotkeys by default, and is not toggled by the Activate Maps key map. If you set up your own Hotkeys, they should typically be in either the General (for non-combat things, like movement, mounts, invites, etc) or FTL DPS Keys (for combat) maps. Any other Key Map, and you will need to add it to the toggle - FAQ entry.

I'd suggest having the arrow keys be your movement keys for your slaves, rather than letter keys. (I leave the letter keys as movement keys for the master only)
