Default 10 boxing Raid Comp Help

I'm making the jump from 5 to 10 boxing! Pre-maturely!

The good news, is I have a friend who wants to "try" 5 boxing, so I am letting him Raf up some toons for me until he decides he wants to do it himself. (He's paying me rent, so it works out).

The bad news is... I have to pay for it AND plan out 10 boxing stuff before I'm really ready. (I just dinged 85 a week ago, I'm terrified I will suck at heroics, oh well).

I know the best idea is to level many many toons to 85 for comp flexibility and testing, but the amount of free time I'll have over the next 6 months will be a little bit limited, in addition to the fact my friend has to learn while RaFing, so I'll probably only going to be able to level 2 teams to 85 once I fully commit to doing so.

My FIRST Team to 85 was this comp:

    1 x Prot Pally
    2 x Warlock
    1 x Mage
    1 Holy Priest

I do have around 30 toons (6 teams) all at level 60 that I can level up on these first 5 accounts should I need to.

    That said...

I completely plan on failing at raiding, but I still want to try it. Problem is, I'm bad at deciding comps for 10-man. Any suggestions on TWO teams I could level up that would help give me enough flexibility and a decent shot at succeeding? I don't mind multiclasses, although I haven't really attempted any melee at 85 (i did 5 ferals leveling the first time, taht's about it).

It's sad, but I feel like I know less about WoW mechanics/classes sometimes than I do about boxing at this point. I quit wow the first time before BC was over, and I'm still learning all the changes in Cata, and am not actively raiding on any single toons. Everything I relearned at this point has been thanks this wonderful community! However, if I am able to get my own guild achievements for raiding a tier behind, that will be successful enough for me!

    Side Question:
i've been searching, but are there any specific 10-boxing guides on there? Or is it assumed that once you 10-box, you need to figure out shit for yourself? (which, I am also ok with).

Keeping in mind that I have never done heroics I would think that the plan is to go heavy offensive. I have done this in EQ1 to good effect.

    Prot Pal tank
    1 Restro Shaman Healing

    rest mages.

Swap in another shaman for a mage if you feel your tank is dying to soon.

Its all about agro managment if you keep the mobs on the tank you should do ok.

You can do an aoe heal with the Prot Pal (I think) that give more agro I read someplace.

If you run into heroics that need offtanking then swap in some warlocks for the mages. But hopefully if you keep mobs on the tank you should be able to kill them fast.

With mages you can go fire for tank and spank encounters or archane for aoe type or the other for some defensive help and pets.

10 boxing kind of died when cata came out because of all the movement involved in the fights. With that said, the recent upgrade in armor and nerfs to bwd and bot, I think 10 boxing might be an option with some of the fights in those two places now.

Currently im gearing up some more alts to see if i can 7-8 box these raids with some friends.
so far, i have heard of 3 boxing all of bot, but thats it.

Well, I am definitely one of these stubborn types who say: "Nothing is impossible" even when it probably is.

I do feel that the pioneers of boxing are mostly "Better" at it than me, but who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and figure out a way to down a boss in raid content. Like you said though, I wouldn't mind doing older raids myself.

And @Sam - was your advice for normal raiding? or pvp? (as I know you pvp a lot).

[Edit] I think I just misread his post the first time.

For pvp go fire cause you can move and cast at the same time, dont want to be standing around when oppenent hits you with a aoe spell.

For pve go archane (for aoe) or frost (for better defensive).

Again I have never raided so others advise going to be better but ...

Ya if you have to move a bunch of guy independantly of each other its going to be a very hard encounter no matter what classes you use. Again fire mages is very good as they can cast and move at the same time. Plus they have a 40 yard range, maybe some boss mobs cant hit you from that far although I have no idea.

BOT or BWD has level 359 items (at the easy mode), easy enough to craft or buy which is why I dont raid. Although I can see it more as a challenge with bragging rights then a way to gear up. I can buy a 378 item on the AH right now for 8000 gold ....

but by buying your gear you don't achieve anything. Raiding is more than just gear levels.
