    Default Some boxxer hate

So the other night I am in Unrest leveling in the basement with my crew and a level 60 is running around. Unrest is a zone where people come around level 14 and stay till about 25 or so. So needless to say a 60 running around there is either bored or PLing someone.

The 60 comes down to the basement and watches me and my crew for awhile then sends me a tell and says

    "Hey you boxxing?"

    "Yes I am"

"What bot program are you using MQ or something?"

"Bot programs would be a violation of TOS I hardware box using multiple computers and a wireless keyboard/mouse setup"

    "Thats cool"

    "Thanks"

"I just wanted to let you know that people like you have ruined this game by taking the second M out of MMO and I have reported you for the fucking cheater that you are"

"Ok I am sure a GM will respond promptly and take whatever action they feel is necessary"
"I just want to let you know that Sony has stated they are ok with boxxing as long as people are not botting and you do realize the majority of the people who play this game run 2 or more accounts at once"
"So I would say it is people like me and others who own and play multiple accounts that keep this game alive"

"Fuck you faggot at least I am not some loser who sit in his mamma's basement jerking off to EQ"

"Well I live with my wife but that is beside the point"

"Whatever you fag you ruin the fucking game"

"Ok well I just want to point out the reason why I box"
"I work, run a business, and have children basically I don't want to be level 60 running around a level 20 zone with nothing to do besides harass other players like you are doing now I could find better ways to spend what little down time I have than cruising around a zone killing greys"

    "Whatever you fucking homo"

"Ok well /ignore /report have a nice day"

After that the guy tried to train me several times but at my level all he was doing was bringing me exp and loot faster. I was only down there PLing my monk. I think clearly based on his speech this was probably a 14 year old or a 20 something with a 14 year old maturity level.

A GM never showed up for either of our petitions I did not expect them to.

You know whats funny in all the time I played WoW I think I had one guy give me shit and within 3 weeks of starting I already got some ass hat busting my shoes about being a boxxer, I would guess that is because in WoW we are usually in instanced content.

Interesting story. I wonder if older MMOs realize how much of their business are boxers of some sort. I've been playing FFXI again recently and I'm kind of surprised how accepting people are of it now compared to 5 years ago. Now it's pretty standard for people to have a pocket healer. I wouldn't be surprised if the next big development in MMO play is the acceptance and monetization of multicharacter players.

I mean, at the end of the day, all we're doing is paying cash for increasing our product of labor. Most people don't do it because they can't meet the hardware requirements. Imagine if they built it in to the system? Or better yet, imagine if they included decent AI for paid followers? I mean you'd still have to gear them like a normal character, and even be able take direct control, but the ultimate goal is that they monetize what people are already doing.

Well EQ1 has mercs I play TLP so we don't have them. A lot of people already do what is called Moloing which is running 1 to 3 accounts on separate monitors each with its own merc. No software or anything just clicking through the windows.

I have never understood boxxer haters. I could understand if they thought I was some Chinese PL or farm service sucking up valuable resources but other than that most boxxers are people like me who don't have the time for the drama, lfg, and random idiots.

When I fire up I want to jump right into a group and know that I am the only random idiot wiping my group. I don't want to argue about loot and I don't want to waste time LFG. The is because back in the day I could play 20 to 40 hours a week. Now I maybe get a few hours here and there during the week and if I am lucky a few hours on Saturday and Sunday.

    Don't indulge the trolls.

Whenever they start into the nerd stuff, or the mamma's basement stuff, all I ever say is "This coming from a WoW player... how funny". Then I ignore them.

I feel you though. There was a point when I was getting really down about the 5 random people a day running up to me and saying something like 'fuck you fag, ruined du games for uz', then logging off.

I finally came to just not care. WoW players are the last people on earth who have to right to call some1 else nerdy. They think more accounts means you are more nerdy. In reality it just means you probably have a job (And can afford multiple accounts) and are intelligent enough to do it. I can do everything faster with 4 accounts than I can 1. I have less time played on my team than 90% of the people at my gear level.

Haters can suck my big fat wee wee.
BC Arena was a game of Chess, the goal being to outthink and checkmate your opponent.

WotLK was also a game of Chess, the goal now being to take a turd on the chess board before your opponent could move.

I think it's hysterical that he says that you "ruin" the game by not being social, while flaming you with "fuck you faggot" and similar childish insults. Gee, why would anyone want to multibox when they can group up with a social butterfly like that guy?

Maybe it's just me, but it seems as if the people who complain about multiboxing the most are the sort of people who can't get a group or stay in a guild because they have the social skills of a rabid badger. So just to clarify to those people: if we weren't multiboxing, we would not be grouping with YOU, you insufferable prick.

I never thought about it that way. Usually what I do as I approach the end game is join a raiding guild but only bring the one class they need the most on raids. I just box so I can hop on farm and do the content I want to without all the drama.

You are right though the few times I have been insulted by someone for being a boxxer was someone usually dropping the F bomb and making homophobic jokes. I would imagine their childish attitude permeates everything they do which is why at 60 he was cruising a level 20 zone instead of farming Seb or Chardock or something like that.

It is players like him that made me start boxxing in the first place.

You guys have it so much better now then when I was one of the few people who openly defended multiboxing (see my posts at FoH).

I miss the "discussions" on the old FoH forums. Good times.
I also miss 72 man raids ... our monk guild leader tanking Fennin Ro for fun ... Epic particle weapon quests ... pretty blue Lambent armor for my bard .... *sigh*
