While my shaman team kind of got placed on the back burner in favor of my DKs+Pal, I'll often just cap points for the week. I don't take any points in instant ghost wolf for my arena spec, instead I put them into Ancestral Resolve. I found myself in the same situation as you where I was barely using it in arena and it felt like a waste of talent points.

Invaluable in BGs, however! I don't know what I'd do without instant ghost wolf in those.

I got the rocket boots for moving quick in BGs ghost wolf is overrated in arenas, cus if you have to start moving to chase down ppl, you've won

It is godly, for both the ghost wolf insant AND the 15% run speed. Ghost wolf doesn't go below 100% speed (unless against a glyphed hunter's concussive shot).

And I do BGs more than arena where it is utilised a lot more.

I find instant ghost wolf is very useful when I do arenas solo with other "real" people.
It helps a great deal when you need to create some distance from melees when they are immune to thunderstorm. Drop an Earthbind totem (which I also have talented for root) and pop GW to run away and heal if needed.
