    Default lol-me, sigh dumbass.

So a habit of mine now is from 'ground object' collection quests is that i often loot all but one on my Pally (leader) and finish every one else 1st. I like it this way because then I can still locate sparkling objects on the ground until the very last loot right?

Anyways, the habit crosses over to include essentially trying to finish quests on all toons at roughly the same time. I don't loot 20 on 1st, then move to next etc. Don't ask why lol, but it always seems more 'grindy' to me that way.

Point is - I'm in Feralas early this morning (snowplow woke me up at 4am, sigh) doing those 2 quests from the goblin at the dock. The water elemental collection quest, and the giant zapping. So I resign myself to settle in and begin collecting dozens of drops for all. I kill everything I see up and down the coast, randomly/evenly distributing quest drops to my guys.

About 2hrs in, I go to zap a giant and realize my shrinker doesn't work?

    FFFFFFFFFFFF...................uck.

It's on a 2hr timer. Idiot? I completely forgot! The stupid thing is I actually solo played a huntard through these like only 2mths ago lol.

Long story short: wasn't paying attention to quest with time, and should have done each toon seperately & sequentially. They all had about 11 of 15 drops from the giants when timer expired and all of it went poof lol. Drop quest and the drops poof with it haha.

    Goddamn snowplow.

    i hate collection quests.
Most of all you go back to handin and you find that 1 char didnt pickup a piece. So because you want as little uneven XP as possible you run back and kill 1 more to get the last item. Adds +10mins to the quest each time.

Just had that problem yesterday opt. was the first quest I did on a new 3 team, Usually if its a drop I do my main, the botom left then the bottom right on my screen. Somehow I only did 7/8 on the bottom left before switching over. Only took one more kill but was still annoying as hell.

If I can offer any advise. Dont do any of these shit quests. The first multibox team you do, you will feel strangely compelled to do all the shit quests, to get to one good kill quest in a chain. Seriously .dont.fucking.bother. Cant stress it enough. You'll work out good quests in certian zones. Now add up how much XP you lost by NOT doing those collection quests. Go do an instance 4x or whatever. Your gruop gets full xp for the kills not 50. You get cloth, shards/dusts, ore, money, greys.

Get into a habit of doing this and you will level much much much faster.

I also do the same thing with my Paladin main and the sparkles. I have forgotten to get one object on my main a few times.

Heh I know these two quests and usally just don't do them - the drop rate on the elemental collection quest is shite, and the giants are too far apart to make it worth my time.

But like you I do the collection quests on my alts first. Mainly becuase the sparkles will still be visible on my main's screen right up until I finish the quest, and the other reason is there are a number of quests where the quest items show on the minimap for herbalists (my main is a herbalist), e.g. Burstcap Mushrooms, Mon! & Preparing The Salve. However once you finish the quest they disappear on your minimap - so as long as I get my alts done first I still get to see them on the minimap right up until completion for all my guys.

I usually do collection quests but only of the drop rate is ok.

Collection quests are the very devil for us lot, mostly. I always do a few in Outland though, because some of those early quest rewards are just too good to pass over.

Here's a tip for those ground-object collections (which I often will do)... if you've got a Dwarf in your team, stick "find treasure" on, and for as long as they still need an item for the quest, they'll show up on your minimap as treasure.

But don't get me started about spleens.... thank God I always seem to ding 70 either doing that quest, or before I get to it....

HAHA _ I always think the same thing when I see Otlec's post, sweeeet avatar. Memories come back, but mostly ghost memories like that avatar, town camping my newbie ass until I logged off, when all I was trying to do was go outside and pick some low level reagents to try and cast one of my pathetically weak spells in a desperate attempt to skillup.

God, I played UO for like 2yrs and I dont think I learned a single thing haha, I was a tard then when it came to MMO's (well, mmos were sorta new anyways but I was still a newb haha) Still a great game though, so open and so flexible. Too bad I nearly tanked college because of it haha.

    On collection quests:

I dunno, most I dont mind at all. I am patient as a rule I suppose. And I do mix it up with instances. I have at least done all of the instance questlines, for sure, up to Mauradon now. Can't pass up the exp/rewards on those babies. Actually, on this team I have been fairly closely following the Team iDemise guide for leveling. That feralas coastline pair of quests will now be forever stricken from my mind though lol, that much I will agree. I didn't use either reward on any toons, and the exp was dissapointing.

I can't seem to get my mind into a majority instance grind for leveling. Too many of the mid-level dungeons are too long/windy and just bore me lol. I gave up the 'race' mentality quick this time too, I was finding it lead me to burnout every time ~

    Thanks

I started playing long pre-Trammel and I swear I spent the first two weeks of my UO life *solid* looking exactly like that! Then I learned about pre-cast, hally whacking, plate-wearing, tank-mages....
