Default Sorta OT: HD6990 vs 590GT in Crysis2

    http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/g...90_vs_gtx590/4

The numbers in DX11 are amazing with regards to the minimum FPS numbers. I didn't realize there was that much of a disparity between the two, though it does jive with my experiences with lower-tier cards at similar price points.

[edit] Yeah, it's only one review. Will be interesting to see if others have the same results.

i will still wait for more reviews with different games, and why are they testing/benching with crysis 2? I thought the pc gaming community deemed it a crappy console port? I know they did recently release a DX11 high resolution textures pack, but not sure if it works the computer over like crysis does.

But I am very happy with my HD6950 2GB
It is a decent card that is fast, lower heat then most nvidia cards and some AMD cards, and the 2GB memory is great for multiboxing and other games that can utilize that much video memory.

I like seeing the newer cards compete with each other, but I can not justify the price of buying these cards. I wonder what AMD's new cards codenamed southern islands(?) will bring to the table. And hopefully nvidia has an answer to it, because if they are late to the party again, I fear the worst for that company.

Apparently, it was a patch to enable all that functionality much like Crysis 1 had. Not sure if it's the same thing as I'm sure some of the optimizations for the console still limit what Crysis 2 can do.

I had the same thoughts as well. Crysis 2 is a slap to the face for PC gamers.

I thought Metro 2033 is the new standard these days. 1 Game I am currently playing is witcher 2. Out of all the recent games, I think witcher 2 would be a pretty good benchmark as well. It is demanding on hardware. and it looks awesome.

As for HD6990 vs GTX590, ya, it is weird 6990 lags behind on low settings. As usual, it seems like a driver issue from ATI again.
