They were at one point (my roomate had 3 caps in and i couldn't log into his account with no caps) to do his daily cooldown for him a few times. Wonder when it was changed.

This. I had a cap first letter on a password that I use elsewhere in all lowercase. When I'd been drinking, I always forgot to put in that first capital. This is a somewhat recent change.

Nah, it's been like that for years (on EU servers, at least) - when I set it up, day 1 of EU release, my password had a couple of upper case chars sprinkled in it. A good few years ago, I noticed that the case didn't matter when entering it, as my caps lock button stuck on (but I didn't notice that until I was logged in and started to chat).

So it's definitely not a recent change.
