Default UI failure, I give up. Now I need help.

    5 boxing; one pc.

(dunno if this matters for this problem)
    latest MoBo
    10GB DDR3 RAM
    i3 core
    96GB SSD
    Nvidia 240GT video.

Downloaded the LUI, and have been working with it for a while now to get things to work well. Have been working with one account, until I perfect how I like stuff, then had planned to copy to the rest.

Perhaps Im doing something wrong, but my final word on the UI is, "its flakey"

I loaded up a MB team that I havent played since I moved wow to the SSD. LOTS of problems.
Jamba info was lost, (but I think this ones normal)
screen sizes when in main window for ISBoxer were all different
I see remenants of LUI even though its not selected in the addons
one window has the standard UI dragons on the side of the bottom bars missing
4 of the 5 clients have weird greyish oversized box outlines for the top row of action bars
Guild calendar is simply missing for 1 client.

I went to each Addon screen and deslected all for each of the 5 clients...even jamba and isboxer. Still there, still have the same issues.

Also, with all clients set to low graphics, I opened another team up manually (Innerspace exited, ISBoxer closed, no addons)... the grey boxes are still there, options screens are greyed out, and my computer locked up, due to low frame rates, as the second team was in orgrimar at 9:45pm server time.

So... what do I do to just cut out everything?, and get back to:
    WoW
    Jamba
    ISBoxer
    Decursive
    DBM
    Recount

    Thats it.

Just a thought to take into consideration: if you (re)do your UI now, then you might end up screwed with next weeks 4.2 patch. There is always a plethora of addons not behaving/working as intended.

Ya, I did think about that. Im not going to impliment anything just yet. But I really need to know how to get everything back to original UI easily on a SSD.

I think simply deleting my wtf and interface folders isnt gonna work.

If you boot up wow there is an option on the right hand side called 'options', there you can reset user settings.
After logging in you have an option on the left hand side called addons (on char selection screen), where you can tick off all addons.

That should give you back the original interface like you first booted up wow. An option is to manually delete the addons in your /wow/interface/addons folder (addons have nothing to do with wtf folder)

Are you aware that addons have profiles? If you have an addon for lets say your unitframes like shadowedunitframes, then you can create a new profile for a Dk. If you go on your warlock and want the same look as your Dk, you either need to make a new profile and copy the dk profile into the new one, or you need to select the DK profile as your active one on the lock.

What I find good practice with profiles is to create a 'goodone' profile. For each char I create a new profile, and I copy the goodone into that. If I mess up by accident, all it takes is copy the goodone back to the respective toon. And if I make changes to goodone, I can easily distribute them to all toons.

Zenga, that is a FANTASTIC idea.

I was aware of the profiling. Used it to copy over stuff from the HDD to the SSD. But your suggestion of 'goodone' is superb. I think, im going to attempt the revert option, and try that this evening. the Goodone profile will be my focus.

    So simple. Great suggestion.

Yes a very helpful way to handle multiple chars. I also use Addon Control Panel which allows you to make "sets" of addons to enable/disable per toon within game. Helpful to diagnose issues.

I would start with the addons you feel you must have, set them up and check performance when running multiple toons. I use Elv UI (a version of tukui) and find the memory usage and performance pretty good with 5 toons. I add a few other mods as well. I wouldn't mind going back to complete default but I like the looknfeel UI compilations have.

I dislike how clunky the std UI is.
Things I like are smaller main bar buttons.
No group or party visual on the side of the screen. Grid works just fine.
Round mini map seems silly. Especially when doing video feeds for multiple gathering.

I need recount, DBM, Jamba, Decursive, and ISBoxer to function in a group.

I'm really not sure what you had done to make it "flakey," but LUI works perfectly fine for me right out of the
box prior to me tweaking the shit out of it. I would recommend that when you install a fresh compilation (such
as LUI or TukUI) to completely wipe your WTF/Account folders prior to installation. Also, I find it unbelievably
convenient to load up a team, turn on mouse repeater, and then change all the UIs at the same time using
ISBoxer. No need to be looking at a folder full of Lua files wondering which ones need to be copied and
whether or not the profiles actually saved.

The project prior to patch 4.2 (today) was being maintained on almost a weekly basis by the dev team but
nothing new was really being implemented because the team was waiting on Loui to make decisions.
    This past
week, Loui has stepped down from the LUI project and the remaining dev team has stepped in to continue it
on and make it even stronger. With my new RaF'd accounts I will be using their new 4.2 version when they
    released it later today.

Honestly Fenril, I dont know either. I dont know enough about coding to be able to tell anyone what the particular line or whatever is wrong. But what I see...Something of the UI stayed, or altered the profile, and wasnt "removed" when I turned off the UI from the addon screen.

I admit when I set up the SSD for the first time, I copied the WTF and Interface folders from the previous HDD, and pasted them into the new drive. I was able to keep my gatherer info, login settings etc.

    I really dont know.

Yeah I guess it could have been some weird conflict. Either way I lied, they won't have a new version out
today and they're claiming their newest version will work fine.
