Cool Eve Online reference in Bones

Not sure if anyone watches Bones on TV. I sometimes do, its pretty interesting and the main girl is hawt (zooey deschanel's sister, forgot her first name).

Last night it was an episode about pirate treasure. They were analyzing a bone and one of the scientists or something was talking about how it was coated in various minerals. He rattled off a bunch of them and it was "pyroxes, veldspar, plagioclase". I was delighted to notice that he pronounced them the same exact way I do.

But then I was like wtf?! Those are real? Well a quick search in wikipedia proved they were just the fictional ones from Eve Online.

Cool stuff, I wonder if they did that as a nod? Maybe the writers play Eve Online?
The poetry that comes from the squaring off between,
And the circling is worth it,
    Finding beauty in the
    dissonance

More likely that the writers 'didn't do the research' and just copied what they thought were real mineral names from the internet. Never attribute to skill what can be readily explained by incompetence!

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Bones - seems failry common for the series - although I've not seen it as far as I know
