Default question about graphics on a laptop

Time to upgrade to a better laptop. Found this one at a local store and it is within my price range.

    http://www.memoryexpress.com/Product...3%28ME%29.aspx

Question, Is the video any decent, and how many clients will i be able to run using low to medium graphics in wow(currently 5 boxing on my desktop). Any other input on this model please feel free to respond. I'm fairly confident when it comes to desktops, but laptops (video especially) leave me unsure of myself.

Here is how it compares to other graphics chips - http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Rad...M.43962.0.html
Seems like it's a pretty middle of the road video chip. Not great, but not terrible.
If you run the graphics details on lower settings, then you'll probably be fine, since it has a good processor.

At least it's not intel integrated.

can definitely 5 box wow. Can also 3 box rift. need to set graphic settings low for both games. Since it is in a local store, definitely test it out before buying it if you can.

Some of those new laptops have noisy fans while gaming. and generate insane amount of heat on the side when CPU and GPU are busie.

4 clients in low and the main in medium, get around 20fps that way

Another G73 fan here. Started with 1 for my wife, borrowed it for multiboxing and decided I could drop my desktop, now own 3 of them. It has its quirks but after replacing thermal paste on the GPU, windows 7 SP1, new drivers, new BIOS, disabling the touchpad through BIOS and killing the touchpad software, and setting "ATI Graphics Power Settings" in all Windows Power profiles to Maximize Battery instead of Performance, it stopped crashing, losing USB, and dropping keystrokes. I have the version of G73 with the ATI 5870 rather than the NVIDIA chip.

I believe Best Buy raised the price on their version of the G73 by $100 when they switched to the NVIDIA chip, I seem to remember it being the same price as this Aspire is listed for.

The linked Aspire appears to be favoring HDD space rather than CPU/GPU power -- meaning to add a 2nd 640GB HDD and keep the price about the same, they probably gimped the GPU. What I would suggest is finding the same thing but with better CPU/GPU and less emphasis on the HDD. You can easily add a second HDD, but it's usually a pain in the ass to change the CPU or GPU. Besides, you can pick a nice SSD to put your games on for improved loading times.
