Same said Cable company employee does have "horror" stories of people putting tin foil on their equipment to keep the government from spying on them, or electronic equipment buried under magazines or cats... ya, cats. Modems are just poorly designed. If youve scraped one out of the closet from times past, its definitely not going to hurt to ask about a newer model, then shove the old n trusty back into the closet.
