Default Giving one slightly better gear than the rest

Just wondered if anyone else gave one of their toons priority on gear over everyone else?

Like, i'm playing a 4 x warrior and 1 x pala set up and thought it'd be easier if I knew who would do more dps (dps = threat) so I don't have to spread my heals so thinly because it's a bit of an aggro race at the moment.

I don't want to make one a tank tank to keep the synchronicity between the toons.

Just wondered if anyone did this on the way to 85? Might get one of my toons the heirloom axe but thats it I think..

at lower levels i would wait till they all had the item to equip it. As time went by i just tossed the item to the top of the master loot list and equipped it.

I actually like that my DKs rotate aggro. It effectively gives you a meta tank since you are using all of their health to tank vs just one guy.

I suppose i'd get used to pvp healing this way which is my main aim at the moment.

Might just be the fact i'm levelling quite fast and some of my dudes are under geared and getting one shot, like I had to go and do the 2nd to last boss in Dire Maul a few levels later because of all the adds he spawned etc.

That's an added benefit. Besides that I doubt it will really matter. Because the char who got aggro probably critted first.

I found that it didn't seem to matter till I hit heroics in Lich King. Dynamics in Cata changed enough that I couldn't tell you as my group at that time was all uber epic and played their classic rolls from LK.

But in vanilla, BC, and LK I found it easier to just 5x dps spec and zerg through everything. If I couldn't zerg it, I would take my time and set up each pull, let the tank get agro for a few moments and then engage. It reminded me of old school EverQuest.

As far as equipping goes, I remember running SM and SFK and Underbog so many times to get all the drops for each of my toons that it took weeks sometimes. Especially all the caster drops in old SFK it was a waste of time. 15 quests later and you were replacing it anyway.

I know on my 4 shaman I always look to give gear to the toon that is my heal toon first. The regen needs to be higher as well as the mana pool so they can last longer. The elemental shaman x 3 aren't an issue as they just work well together but your healer needs to have the ability to last for a semi-long boss fight. They are all in Brutal gear but when I go into an instance the resto puts on the spirit gear and there we go.

In PVP, my healer is my main guy, and because I'm still levelling, I'm trying to chuck a lot of stamina on him as usually, regardless who i lead with, they're more likely to get hit first.

Each of the Gnomettes on my 4x DK, 1x Pally team are in favor of this.
Unfortunately, each thinks they should receive the upgrade first and so they cannot come to a consensus on who gets the better gearing.

The downside to giving a bunch of gear to one toon is if something happens and that guy dies, you'll lose a lot more than if you spread things out, bringing everyone up.
