If you have a retail copy, it only costs the shipping of the DVD. If you have an OEM copy, you cannot upgrade.
Go here if you have a retail copy to order the 64-bit DVD:

How much memory do you intend to have in the system? Tom's Hardware had a really good article about memory usage in Vista, the conclusion of which showed that if you only have 4Gb then you should stick with 32bit as the extra memory reserved for 64bit apps actually exceeds that lost running 4gb on a 32bit system. I would link the article but I am too lazy... I found it through a post on the general forum though.

The 64bit version upgrade is like $10. I had mine sent. Bad thing is you cannot upgrade from xp to 64bit. It has to be a fresh install. So I did the file transfer thing but when I restored it after installing 64bit it installed all the crap I had on my pc in different areas. I think I fubar that install. Tomorrow I have to go through my pc and sort things out.

That's crazy! I can clearly see that this is an issue with vista, but because XP-64 uses the windows 2003 server kernal does it suffer from the same memory and 32-bit application speed problems?Originally Posted by 'Caddery',index.php?page=Thread&postID=40291#post4 0291
