You just had to go there and give me ideas, didnt you?

The expensive part is getting Engineering to 375, for those wondering. You get the Goggles at 350, and there is really no point going higher skill level than that... unless you want the Flying mounts. If you have 375 engineering, I'd call it a 2-400g cost per mount, epic. Roughly half of that for the normal one.

    Hi guys,

Actually levelling up engineering wasn't as bad as I thought. I never went out and actively farmed the mats, I only mined nodes that I came across while questing / grinding. That being said, I've only ever needed to buy mats two times - once to buy thorium to get my guys from about 285 - 300 and the second time to buy the mats for the flying machines and boost two of my toons from 320 to 335.

The mats for the flying machines are 2 x adamantite frames, 5 x adamantite bars, 30 x fel iron bars, 8 x fel iron bolts, 8 x Starwood & 4 x Elemental Seaforium Charges. The Starwood you buy from an Enchanting Supplies vendor. The recipe for the Elemental Seaforium required revered with consortium, but its not BoP so you can save yourself the rep grind and get someone else to make them for you. I offered 50G plus my mats in the trade channel and got a reply within seconds. The mats for the adamantite frames and bars I already had from mining. All up I spent around 450 gold to get the missing mats (and to boost the two toons), but since a flying mount costs 100g to buy i actually ended up saving about 50g.

This is what I did as the cheapest way to get to 350:

    300 - 310

    Fel Iron Bolts x 20 (20 Fel Iron Bars or 20 Fel Iron Ore) - yellow @ 300, green @ 305, grey @ 310

    Fel Iron Casing x 25 (75 Fel Iron Bars or 150 Fel Iron Ore) - yellow @ 300, green @ 310, grey @ 320

    Elemental Blasting Powder x 40 (10 Motes Of Fire, 20 Motes of Earth) - yellow @ 300, green @ 310, grey @ 320

This should actually take you past 310, but since the later recipes start at yellow, this should give you enough of a head start so that it doesn't matter too much if you don't get a skill up for every crafting.

    310 - 320

    Fel Iron Shells x 10 (20 Fel Iron Bars or 40 Fel Iron Ore +existing mats) - yellow @ 310, green @ 320, grey @ 330

If you got to 320 from crafting the previous bunch of mats, you can skip this. Otherwise make enough to take you exactly to 320 - you should already have the Elemental Blasting Powder from the previous step.

    320 - 330

    Fel Iron Bomb x 10 (existing mats) - yellow @ 320, green @ 330, grey @ 340

This is already yellow at 320, so you may need more than 10 to get to 330. However you should have spare mats from the previous 2 steps - use these to make as many as you need to get to 330.

    330 - 335

    Fel Iron Toolbox x 5 (5 fel iron bars or 10 fel iron ore +existing mats) - yellow @ 330, green @ 335, grey @ 345

Another one thats yellow when you get it - once again use any spare mats left over from previous steps. if you have any really unlucky streaks you may need to buy extra mats to take you to 335.

    335 - 350

    White Smoke Flare x 20 (20 x Netherweave Cloth + existing mats) - yellow @ 335, green @ 345, grey @ 355

This goes green at 345 so you might need more than 20 to get to 350, but this recipe is ridiculously cheap considering the level.

So the total raw mats you are looking at are 140 Fel Iron Bars (280 Fel Iron Ore) and 1 Primal Fire (10 Motes of Fire) and 2 Primal Earth (20 Motes of Earth).

Also worth noting - the engineering vendors in Shatt, Area 52 & Stormspire sell these parts in limited supply so they are always worth stopping by if you are in the area.

Oh and my toons names are Sheheals, Shetotems, Shebolts, Sheshocks and Shepurges.

    Cheers,

Yep to get to 375 I'm looking at the following recipes:

Adamantite Rifle = 2 Adamantite Frames (16 x Adamantite Ore 1 x Primal Erth), 3 x Fel Iron Casing (18 Fel Iron Ore), 4 x Fel Iron Bolts (8 Fel Iron Ore)

    Orange @ 350, Yellow @ 360, Green @370

    Repair Bot = 8 x Adamantite bars (16 Adamtite Ore), 8 x Fel Iron Bolts (16 Fel Iron Ore) & 1 x Khorium Power Core (6 x Khorium Ore & 1 x Primal Fire)

    Orange @ 360, Yellow @ 370

I'm still tossing up whether to keep making the rifles to 370 or go for the repair bots instead - I guess it depends on how the price of 6 Khorium ore and 1 Primal Fire stacks up against 10 Fel Iron ore and 1 Primal Earth.

    Cheers,

I set out to ease the way to 375 Engi and started farming for the BoP patterns yesterday.

Got Khorium Scope schematic in about 45 minutes, and Felsteel Boomstick in 20 minutes. The Hyper-Vision Goggles I gave up after farming 3 hours (will go back today though ;-)
