Default Hit 70 - now the long grind begins!

    Hi peeps,

Finally hit 70 with my Shammy team last night and now the long grind for PvP gear begins! I got the 5 guys going engy for 5 x flying machines, the engy helments and the grenades & trinkets (cant wait to try out 5 x rocket launchers lol!)

The plan now is to set up an arena team for the obilgatory 10 matches each week while doing BG's to grab the honor gear and gear myself up.

I did have a few questions around Arenas & BG's:

    1. I epxect to get beaten a lot intitially becuase of my crap gear. Will forming new teams every so often get me more points (lose less points?) since the team rating will get reset to 1500?, or will that negatively affect me since I will start off in the 1500 bracket again and most likely be facing S3 geared teams?

    2. Is there any particular gear I should focus on getting straight away - or just stick to focussing on the particular piece that will represent the biggest upgrade for me at that time?

Here's a table listing the honor gear availble through BG's...It's shaman specific for stats, but the honor costs are the same for all classes. You might find it usefull...

The grind will not be that hard. Alot of PVP changes in the new patch, alot more easy to get items.

The grind at 70 for gear can be as long or longer than the grind getting to 70. I have a hunter that basically I stopped playing once he hit 70 and I dread having to gear him up after spending 4 monthes gearing my warlock. I'm thinking I'd rather just start over with my clone crew and level them to 70, to me levelings more fun than the 70 gear grind. Grats on 70, hopefully I'll have my 3 man crew to 70 by the end of the summer.

lol nice, it's the opposite for me.

I can't stand leveling, but I enjoy the gear grind.

If you can, try to play bg and arena matches very late at night or very early morning. The quality of the opposition is very poor at those times. I just started arenas on my 5 warlocks (no healers!) and ended up with a 7-3 record. My order of pvp gear acquisition is: Vindicator -> Gladiator Set -> S2/S3 and other PvP trinkets/weapons. You're going to have the vindicator gear for a while, and the gladiator gear will hold you over until you get some points for S2/S3. It is kind of too late but farming WSG marks in 60-69 bracket may save you a lot of headaches.

    meh dunno, BGs don't matter.

Even if you do the games legit (i.e. don't AFK and watch a movie) how good the enemy is doesn't matter much for BGs.

Though for arenas, yes, que @ random wierd times for easy games.

Also, don't get S2. get Honor gear with honor, and S3 with arena points. Then get S1 with honor after you have all the other honor gear. Don't waste points on S2.

I find that it does help for AB/EOTS to run off hours due to the fact there are no premades. EOTS is normally 2000 to < 100 at the hours I play, and ABs are 5 cap steam rolls. So yea, if you have a team to go past 1850 then by all means skip S2 shoulders/weapon.

Actually this works well for me since I'm based in Australia and normally log on after work which equates to about 2:00 AM server time. Its looking better all the time!

Yep this is what I was thinking as well, so the priority will be

    Vindicators / Vetereans / Cloak ---> S3 Arena ---> S1 Arena (if still waiting for S3 gear)

The only exception - I might go for the S1 weapon earlier since it would be a big DPS upgrade.

Or just save all those points up for the gear coming in S4, only a month or 3 away now... Could save enough marks and honor to get the none-set epics you need, and get this seasons rings (so you have 1 of each next season) then buy all the new stuff the day it goes live
