Thread: 5 x Shaman

  1. #1

    Default 5 x Shaman

I hit it back up with my elemental shammies Wednesday and banged out 74 and then 75 on Thursday doing Grizzley Hills dailies and some simple questing with my 4 shammies (My 5th is 85). So my question is are the shammies capable of doing instances solo again and PVP beyond BGs?

I see the enhancement thread already but 4.2 is looking pretty sweet to let us dot and run and LBs on the move. I know we are still lacking some burst damage but it seems we are in a decent place. So that being said back to grinding my 5-7 dailies, BGing and questing as I hump to 85.

The comp I run in BGs is typically 3 elemental and one resto mode. I would imagine for 85 I would need to either run with 1 resto or go all for broke and hope to insta-kill a healer early on to be successful in 5s. Anyone got any recent incite for elemental PVP and successes in arena this season? ((heading over to arena junkies to google the comp))

some pve 5 man heroic bosses may be possible. Need another tier of gear to make it easier. As for elemental, no they havent been good this pvp season. In fact you might say they suck.

It is worth noting they (Elemental) have fairly significant buffs coming in 4.2.

Enhance, both 4x + a Healer and 5x, has potential.
Some of each combination are running.

You could likely do fairly well in larger BG's, as Resto spec on each Shammy.
    Your team would love you.

Almost 76 today... was busy this weekend with cub scouts camping trip for son so distracted, My major accomplishment was running Drak Theron Keep with only 4 shammies in party with 3 ele and one resto. 3 of 4 pieces of gear that dropped were caster mail or heal gear minus the plate pants on last boss. Only lost one shammy once when I pulled King Dredd and a bunch of raptors. Hopefully will get close to 80 by friday so I can put my 85 shaman back in party.

OnBGs I generally roflestomp. My health pool is lagging now as I am in all lvl 70 brutal arena gear, but at least unlike most I am generally gemmed and chanted. I prefer the larger BGs so as to not gimp the team but WSG weekend was a total loss for me. I need to get some round robin action going with my crew.

76 finally... work is killing my WOW time. Ran OK and the instance in Dalaran yesterday with a tank via LFD... nice. He was totally confused about how I was controlling all 4 shaman at once... slow tank = slow tank even after I explained it to him. Hoping to have a good BG weekend so I can get to 80 then grind some Cataclysm zones. The 4 shaman are rocking but I think being able to quest with the 5th will be better as there are whole zones I have only barely quested in on the big shammy.

And I need to get a two button set up working for my shaman because I know I am not being as efficient as I could be through innerspace usage.

If I want to try running dungeons with five shamans, should I let aggro bounce between them or make one of them (the master) be more of a tank?

Also, if making one of them a tank, which talent tree should I use? I guess a shield is a must have then, so will e.g. enchantment still be good even when not dual-wielding?

I'm sure you would want to pop earth eles and kill the boss before he kills all your earth eles 8)

The second you run 5 of the same you conclude you wish to specilize a guy ....

This is exactly why the optimal 5 man group is:

Tank: (Pal, War, Druid(?) or DK)
    Healer: (Sham or Priest)
3 DPS: (Mage, Hunter, Warlock etc.)

I would go Pal, 3 mage, Sham but other combos are also good.

In my opinion not entirely true. E.g. groups with 5 pallys or 5 DKs can often use varied talents. Also mixing same class with different talents still is a different thing than mixing classes. Because even if you go different talents, they still share many abilities (totems, shock, lava burst etc in this case).

But yes, I do know an optimal group is 3+1+1 and I have that as well (DK, priest, hunters). I'm just an altoholic and love testing many different combos.
