Default Upgrading gfx card from EVGA Gtx 260, should i go for the 580?

I play 5 toons at once. Sometimes 4 but never more than 5.

I now have 14gb of ram but my GTX260 Gfx card is limiting my enjoyment lol

So which card should I get from the EVGA GTX500 series? Dont wanna spend more than I really need to in order to only 5box

    Thanks guys

Well, you might want to read the reviews first. there was a GTX 5series that the reviewers hated. the 550 might have been it. Only reason i recommended the 560 Is it's a good price/performance card. I've had good experience with the GTX470 and I currently own 2 GTX580 in SLI. The 560 is suppose to be as good or better than the GTX470. You might also want to look into the ATI cards.

    good luck with the purchase!

    I'm using a GTX 275.
My main is on medium settings (wow) except Shadows/Weather Effects are off and View Distance is max.
My slaves are everything minimal, except medium view distance.

Aside from the fact that my card is going... still has not gone.
A GTX 275 is fine for my graphical settings, even in SW on a Sat afternoon with 100 players around the AH.

Warcraft is not a very graphical intensive game.
But more eye candy is always a bonus.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

Yeah, my game runs at around 20fps most of the time in cities and around 40-50 elsewhere.

My main problem though is AV. As im sure most of you know as horde one of the most fun things to do is defend galv when all the ally run in. When i do this my fps drops to like 10 which is still playable but its no fun that way. And since im gonna be levelling mostly through pvp i dont wanna deal with that til 80

It's really a matter of buying what you can afford. IMHO, the 580 is too much money for what you get. I think the 570 is a better deal for price/performance. If you can't afford a 570, then buy what you CAN afford.
This is a good guide that they update each month:

One thing I love about their charts is the heirarchy chart at the end. It makes sense out of the confusing numbering that Nvidia and AMD/ATI use and shows "tiers of power", so you can get an idea of where cards fall in terms of raw power.

Also note that if you run the graphics settings at "low", then you're going to be more CPU bound. If you move those sliders up higher, you become more GPU bound. One exception to that (I think) is draw distance. I believe increasing that also increases the load on your CPU, since you're forcing it to draw more objects.
