    Default Problem with Follow

    Hey guys,
I've just started using ISBoxer, and find it excellent. Thanks for the great getting started guides. I think I've got it set up okay, but I may have missed something because I'm having a problem getting my 2nd character to follow without going off on a tangent. See example video here. She just vectors away from the main, and gets herself into all sorts of trouble.

I've been multiboxing for about a year, using a competing product which does not support Rift. I got rather burnt out on WoW, even with the multiboxing, which I enjoy because it adds another dimension to the game. I've been playing Rift since early Beta, and between the multiple characters there, in game, and on the Alpha Test Shard, I've done the starting areas about 40 times, lol. I do have a couple 50s on live for when I want to be really serious.

I'm glad to have discovered ISBoxer, I think it's a great tool. Tricky to get set up, but once you get there with the help of the very well-written guides, all is well. Except for this follow thing.

Any ideas what I've missed? Even when I snug Char#2 up close to #1 and hit follow, she still veers off. Same thing happens when I flip them to have #1 follow #2. My keymaps and broadcasting seem to be fine because they'll both pick the same target and cast in the sequence I use, so fighting isn't an issue. Just moving. TIA for the help. I may be an old broad, but I'm very willing to learn.

Yes. You don't multibox by "driving" both characters at once (with a very few specific exceptions and for very short periods of time). You follow your main by using /follow macros.

For Rift (assuming your main char is named Beelzebubble):

    /targetexact beelzebubble
    /follow
    /targetlasttarget

There are tweaks to that macro based on how you use targeting and focus but that's the basic idea.

[edit] Note that you will want to prevent normal movement keys from getting to your alt until/unless he is your actively-controlled character. I'll let others describe that in terms of ISBoxer setup.

Yes, that's exactly the macro I've been using in Rift with these characters. I use the mouse exclusively to move them. That is why this vectoring off of the following character is a problem.

I've been multiboxing on one machine in WoW for over a year now, with pwnboxer. I prefer teams of 2-3 characters with a mix of skills, not 5 warlocks or pallies.

I'm new to ISBoxer, but not to the principles of playing multiple characters on one machine.

Any other ideas why Char#2 might be veering off?

I would make sure that your Auto Run key on that toon is not a random keybind you are hitting by accident. Strafe can do this also.

Auto Run is keybound to Mouse button 4 on Char#1 and I unbound it completely for Char#2. And I never strafe. :-)

Just watched the video. It looks like both are receiving your movement keys.

Make sure broadcasting is turned off.

On your first screen it appeared that Keymaps were off and Broadcasting was off.... yet when you switched to the other toon his broadcast was on. Do you have them in a Quick Setup group together in Isboxer? You can tell broadcasting is enabled by the cursor box on your second screen.

Ah yes, that might be the issue. ISBoxer does provide that additional challenge (but benefit too!) of Broadasting on both chars. Thanks, I'll fiddle with that when I get home, that might just do it!

#2 would still vector off with both Keymaps and Broadcasting off on both characters. However, it may be a simple loop -- because of the keymapping I did in ISBoxer the Follow hotkey makes them follow each other. Since that is impossible, their vectors conflict. Thanks for the pointers, I think it'll be solved once I find where those keymaps overlap. I apprecate the help.
