    Default Comp. Performance "???"

I am in the near future upgrading to a QX9650 with an 8800GTX or whatever 9 series gfx card Nvidia comes up with next( assumming it's financially feasible). I finally plan on running all 5 instances on the same PC!! I do have a few performance questions to ask you guys though . . .

1.) Any figures as far as Main fps and the minimum fps you have your Alts running at??

2.) Also, thinking about going RAID SATA, but should I have all accounts on one array or a 2/3 split over 2 arrays??

If I come up with any other questions I will post them in the original pos.

    Thanks, guys!!

The only advice I can give you is to avoid the 9 series nvidia cards; from what I'm told, their performance boost is negligible vs an 8800, and not worth the price; people're basically disappointed in them, and an 8800 should be MORE than enough to last you awhile, especially if you end up going SLI with 'em like your sig says lol

I'd say a minimum of 10fps to be "playable" though, 20-30 for smoother looks ;p I average 20+ fps on my trio in cities atm, unless the crowd is the usual sunday night "LOL GATHER AND IDLE IN IF ALL NIGHT EVEN THOUGH IT LAGS TO HELL" I drop to 5-10 with lots of load lag coming in lol

DAMN YOU Etocles, I need your specs. 8o lolol

Also, I should point out that I have also heard about the 9 series rumors, but until I see final silicon I am going to reserve judgment. If it is only a die shrink and not an new GPU architecure, then I am jumping on the GTX bandwagon. I should have jumped when Hardocp.com (forums) had a deal last week for an eVGA GTX for $300 after rebate. :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: I'm still pissed!!

Surprisingly my comp isn't all that hot:

    AMD 4500+ x64 dual-core processor
    2gb DDR2 dual-channel ram
IDE HD that's so old I'd probably be ashamed to post it's specs if I knew what they were(Though I have a brand spankin new(or was new when I bought it last year LOL) SATA HD to hook up eventually)
7900 GeForce GS(I think GS, was bought new sometime last year pre-8800s)

Fairly simple, possibly a lil old/weak compared to the more monster systems other boxers use, but mine runs 3 1280x1024 maximized/windowed WoWs without turning down graphics settings on ANY of them just fine. I run a minimalist setup though, the only things besides windows shit I have open are obviously an AV/firewall, and mIRC. Lately when I multibox I'll start Windows Media Player up prior to WoW cuz it does seem to help slightly(that was no myth but your results may vary); leaves more CPU open for WoW, turn off all your extra shit, you don't need torrents or too many messengers open, only pop firefox open when you need to(and god help you if you still use IE, I'm a stubborn fucker afraid of change but even I use firefox), close down ANYTHING you can even if it's just idling or seems to take nothing to run.

My specs are in my signature, but I just use wow defaults(except I turn AA to 8x and run windows+full screen), and I get about 50-60 on each one, ironically in SM Cath the other day I was getting 70-80 fps. In Cities(haven't tried shat but when i just play my lock I get between 30-60 fps) I tend to drop to 40 like the above poster states, when people just come and go idle in Org.
    Processor: AMD 64x2 4800+
Ram:4 gigs Dual Channel (Only 3gigs recognized by operating system.)
GFX Card: 8800 GT OC(Factory OC)
Operating System: Windows XP Pro(nLite edition).

9800 GX2 (2 chips on one PCB) for video

Dont bother with raid, just get separate Hard Drive for each wow sessions.
all their load times are identical, just like running 1 wow ( i tried raid it failed me, choked on load times)

I would actually recommend against this, since (as far as I know) this is essentially SLI technology you can't disable. If SLI was transparent to games and always gave an increase, I'd recommend it. But this is simply not the case. Anyone remember the 7950GX2? Maybe this one won't be as disappointing, but I'd wait until it has been out a while and has proven itself. At this point, I'd recommend either an 8800GTS 512 (G92) or an 8800 Ultra, depending on your budget.

    Here's my take:

    1. I am currently running an 8800gtx on a core2 duo at 2560x1600. I run 60fps on main (2560x1000), 15fps on slaves(640x600x4 slaves). It runs very well. The main only drops below 60fps really when I'm in orgrimmar or some place like that. I don't really notice it at all during fights, although I'm sure it drops a little when all those Fire Nova totems are going off.

    2. I wouldn't. Unless you are buying a dedicated RAID controller, I don't recommend it. Most commodity m/bs that I know of are running a software RAID solution which really gives back in performance most gains you'd see in real world scenarios. I've tried quite a few different m/b RAID solutions now, and while they all look good on the benches, the real world stuff doesn't seem appreciably any better. It's not worth the overhead and risk of data loss, imo.
No matter where you go, there you are.
