    Default MaxiVista

MaxiVista is an application which allows you to control mutiple PC's with 1 keyboard and mouse utilizing TCP/IP (your network).

The added functionality it has compared to its counterpart Synergy is that you can pull applications from 1 PC to another seamlessly.

Although it is not open source they do have a free trial available.
As well you cannot broadcast keystrokes with this application.

anyone use this yet? One thing from their website that concerns me is this statement:
    ------------
    General MaxiVista limitations
Hardware graphics acceleration such as DirectX or OpenGL is not supported on the Secondary Display as it would require the emulation of a graphics processor by your standard CPU which would not be favourable.
    ------------

I was considering giving this software a try but the directX comment scares me.

The directx statement means it does not work for WoW.

    I'm not sure about that.

Maxi vista runs in two modes:

Besides remote control, it also supports using the monitor of the second machine to extend the first machines desktop. I guess that the DirectX limitation comes from this kind of usage.

DirectX could work in remote control mode though.

Since I happen to own a full copy of maxi vista I will give it a try if I can find my license keys...

Is there anything that will alloew me to control two PCs with one mouse. I need to have the pointer moving simultaneously on both screens of the two monitors. I don't need the pointer to move from one screen to the other. I need to have the pointer moving and acting on the second screen exactly like the one on the first. I can't have any lag between the two. I will not be playing games, just doing graphics.

    Default Dont use this!

I tested this out, and i got a demo of it running on two of my computers then I tried to fire up wow on the "server" computer. I was instantly hit with the dreaded Nv4_Disp.dll infinite loop error. I attempted to fix it by normal means (switch memory modules, adding/removing RAM, enabling/disabling write combining) and no go, eventually I reformatted the machine but I am still getting the errors anytime I run anything that stresses the video board in even the slightest ways. I REPEAT DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM!!!!!

(in case there are those of you who don't know what the NV4_Disp.dll error is: it is a driver level issue that deals typically with memory timings, yet can also be caused by a variety of other factors including bios, Chipset, processor, etc... What it does is gives you a blue screen of death when ever the video card is utilized, in some cases this can mean right when windows starts and in others can be when a 2d app is loaded, or when a 3d app is loaded. In rare cases it can signify damaged hardware...)
