Default Feature Request - Mouse coordinates keymap thingy

    Hi Rob!

Except the fact that Keyclone is almost perfect and well worth the money, I would like to request a new feature after all.
I have no clue how it should be called but I call it "mouse coordinate keymap feature".

But let me explain what I mean.
As I started to multibox I played three characters and used AHK for the whole set of actions, for healing and stuff. One day I found a script which made healing much easier (for me). It made clicking on a defined area (like 0,0,500,500) possible and this would send a commando like "press shift+1 on alt 2". This way I would perfectly use a small set of keys and do the healing stuff with my mouse. I "mapped" a small area of every health bar to simply click on it and getting my alt to use the assigned macro at this point.

I would like to have this feature in Keyclone as well. In my opinion it would be perfect when having this feature in the keymap part itself.
For Instance, I assign the area (0,0,500,500) + a mouse button like the right button for a heal over time-spell and let Keyclone send the hotstring "heal.party1" - save this and create the opposite in another keymap, "heal.party1" for a shift+1 click which would mean casting a hot on my tank or something.

Would this be possible? I even would pay again just to have this feature because I personally don't like to use AHK at the same time as I use Keyclone. On the other hand, AHK won't work in this way right now so I still have to heal my alts with shortkeys which is quite ... I hate it! I am running low on possible hotkeys I could assign.

I hope I made myself clear enough for you to understand.

This time with a few modified screenshots to demonstrate how I would like to see this feature implemented in keyclone.
First, a (modified) screenshot of how the new keymap editor part would look like with deactivate mouse coordinates:
    http://img209.imageshack.us/my.php?i...8384035xu8.jpg

Second, a screenshot (also modified) of how the same part would look like, with activated mouse coordinates:
    http://img505.imageshack.us/my.php?i...4776809re8.jpg

Now a screenshot of my Warrior ingame with two possible uses of this coordinate-thingy:
    http://img515.imageshack.us/my.php?i...6386395ve9.jpg
(a simple empty macro just to have an icon and the grid-(files.wowace.com)-display)

You see the red marked areas, these could be the possible areas you would define in keyclone and than ingame just click on one of these red marked areas to send the hotstring "heal.damn.it" which would be sent to your heal-toon who got "heal.damn.it" on the key "1" and et voila - a fine renew ticking on your hopefully not so badly injured warrior!
And if you're playing a tanking class you could also define these areas bound to mouse button 2 instead of one, this way you easily could heal yourself / others with the right mouse button but still would be able to select them for other purposes with the left mouse button.

Now, how about it? I think I can't make it more simple to demonstrate.

how would i put the red alpha blend over the wow screen?

as for the mouse mapped region triggering a keymap'd key... possible. on the list is a re-do for the keymaps in an effort to simplify them and make them a bit easier to work with.

only problem would be in the case of PiP. when the screen is shrunk down, do i scale down the region? is the mouse mpa area attached to a region, command, or the overall screen? (a region would make more sense)

    thanks for your response,

the red areas are just to display the coordinates you would use, just to make sure that you get the idea and should not be a feature of keyclone itself.

In case of a shrunk down screen - hmm, several possibilities here
    - deactivate a mouse map area when using PiP and not being on the "main screen" (i have to admit, i never used PiP yet)
    - scaling as you already wrote
    - a fixed position (surely not a good idea i guess)

i think the first two options are the only considerable ones, maybe you could make this decision up for the user himself with giving him the option / choice somewhere in the program to deactivate mouse map areas when using PiP or scaling them (which would be the default setting for this one, for instance)

as i am not into the whole programming thing i cant really answer your last question, does the mouse map has to be attached to anything at all?

in my "imagination" i just set a mouse map for a coordinate (0,0,512,512 - not like the mazimizer, more like: x/y upper left point, x/y bottom right - to create 2 points with which a square is formed - the mouse map) - then i click in this area with the pre-defined mouse botton and it works

if an attachement is necessary (god and you knows why, i really dont have a clue - i am just good at playing wow) then i would prefer the overall screen, so you could for instance make a picture of a small display / console which you wanna use later and display it on the screen externally - not ingame in wow itself but with any kind of a picture browser. now i would assign some mouse maps over that region or if i prefer otherwise i could set the whole thing, as explained before, ingame with some empty macros and / or addons

but in the end, a region could also make sense, depending on how you like to implement the whole feature in keyclone - if youre going to - i think thats the most important thing here - if you choose to attach the whole stuff to a region instead, i could easily create a region which would fill the whole screen and so i had my solution

This reminds me of something my first tester asked for which I've been planning to do eventually. He wants a definable panel of buttons that could appear temporarily while he holds down a key.

But I like this "virtual invisible button" idea a lot. This suggestion has me thinking that the ideal thing would be a translucent set of real buttons that appears temporarily as an overlay while the user holds down a key.

    > how would i put the red alpha blend over the wow screen?

I'm not sure either but I think maybe you could just put a button-size topmost window on top of WoW and draw everything on it with 30% alpha.

....that appears temporarily as an overlay while the user holds down a key.
If such a feature would be implemented I personally would make it optional, I personally would prefer setting these mouse maps over existing addons ingame for instance the health bars of my toons in group, the order in a group follows specific rules so I could adjust my macros on my heal toon to that and just would click on the health bars while playing my tank and heal the associated character without forgetting to keep a spell up like holy shield on my protection paladin or something like that.

I entirely agree. I assumed the user would have to configure it and therefore it would be optional.

That's an incredibly good idea. I didn't fully understand it when I wrote my last message. I hope you guys won't get too mad at me, but I think I might implement this myself. I really love this idea.

Since I don't sell my Ideas and I won't be able to stop you either, do what ever you want !
If possible, could you leave me a private note in this forum maybe if you're done with it? I would love to see the result in the end.

Of course! I probably won't do this for a while though.

It's funny -- I just took the mouse hook out of my program because it was hurting performance. Now I want to put it back in because I like this idea so much.

I guess the program can install and uninstall the hook dynamically depending on whether the person is using this feature.

Rob -- sorry for barging into your thread like this. I'm afraid this was really rude. I'm gone now.

Can I suggest try using "opengl overlay" same as what the teamspeak overlay program use's.

It can put any type of element / buttons / frame over the top of any program running in fullscreen opengl mode.

Hope this helps in a way :P
