Default New User - Mouse Question

    Hi guys,

I've been reading some of your guides over the last few days and been playing around with two machines.

My question is in fact very basic. How do I control two PC's with the same mouse at the same time, such that the two warcraft characters I am controlling stay in sync?

To further explain what I have tried so far:

I have two machines setup and I have been using Multibox to send keyboard and mouse input from my main machine to my secondary machine. This works just fine in Windows and moving about the login screen in Warcraft however shortly after I log in while moving both my characters with the mouse they go out of sync very quickly. Eg. If I turn my main character 90 degrees with the mouse the second character will appear to turn 85 degrees and this is clearly a huge issue.

I have read about the use of Y splitter mouse devices but I am confused as to how they operate. Would a Y splitter allow me to send the output of my mouse to both machines and keep them in sync such that my characters move and look in exactly the same direction?

I understand this is a newbie question but it doesn't seem to have been covered off in terms simple enough for me to understand elsewhere.

Many thanks in advance for your help,

    Stu :cursing:

Before someone else jumps you to read stickies, it's basically not feasible to move each alt manually; bottom line: Control/move main, set all alts to /follow main, there's no way to make them all stay on the same course through normal movement

    Thank you.

So basically mouse control of multiple machines is not possible.

Does anyone know why the alts don't follow the same course when I am issuing the same commands?

The are a number of problems with trying to synchronize your control of multiple characters. First, each character is subject to things out of your control:network lag, differences in processors, micro delays in keyboard/mouse input, etc. Another problem you have to overcome is getting every character perfectly, and I do mean PERFECTLY, lined up. This is pretty much impossible. Here is a crude visual aid to help you see what you have to overcome.

If you're in the green interior circle, it may seem like your characters are lined up, but the farther you move out towards the red circle and beyond, the more pronounced any variation becomes. Even if one of your characters is off by a tenth of a degree, it will take no time at all before he's running off from your other characters.

    Thanks Dezeral,

    That sounds good.

Pretty much turns me off of multiboxing though, I love my mouse just too much, can't get used to playing without it.

    Thanks again.

I'm a little confused as to why this would turn you off of multi-boxing. You still control your main character anyway you would like. If you like using your mouse, great, use your mouse. Having the alts on follow has some limitations, but I certainly don't see any of those limitations as a game breaker. Any spell that gives your the targeting circle would be very hard to use multi-boxing. Circle strafing is of course something you will have to adjust to using the /follow command. Other than that, I don't really see the major problem with /follow. You might be surprised at how quickly you can adjust to positioning your crew with them on follow.
