Free software?

ookay, so you have to purchase Keyclone I see...

Is there any software out there that's free that can run mutliple boxes of a game on 1 PC?

I've been using Octopus lately (when I'm not fighting memory issues.../grumble) and I've had nothing but good results. Granted, I run separate 5 PCs here so I can't vouch for multi-client setups.

You don't have to purchase KeyClone. The reason you see a lot of KeyClone posts here is because the author of KeyClone is very active on this forums and he seems to provide a very high level of quality support!

And I'd say that that is where the choice is:

1. KeyClone and get super support and get running fast!

OR

2. Other tools mentioned in the stickies of whom several are free, but the setup and getting things to work the way you want will most likely take very much more time.

no it's not free, but with the quality of the support, you get what you pay for and then some! if you do not want to buy it, there are free ones in addition to the ones listed there is also hotkeynet.

If you want to search for already-free softawre I suggest you either start up a new, more appropriate thread (this one is quite old), or do it yourself and check the Software section of the wiki.

AutoHotkey Guide[/url]

AutoHotKey is a decent piece of software, but unless you have some kind of programming experience, its a bit tricky to get working properly. The scripting required to transfer keys is simple for someone with a little bit of programming knowledge, but without that, it takes a while to get into.

I recommend spending that little bit of money on getting keyclone.. Not only is it easier to use.. It's WAY better..

I'm a Keyclone user and I think the ease of use and support are definitely worth the money. However, HotKeyNet also looks flexible and powerful. The HKN developer also frequents the board and is very helpful.
