Default 5 man team with wife question

So got wife back interested in wow. We made new toons and are giving it a go. She is playing the tank (pala) and i am doing shm/shm/mag/priest.

I want to drive my 4box with the priest.. so that i can keep a very close eye on her as this is her first time as a tank.

My question is.. how can i have my dps toons assisting on dps keypress off of the tank without my priest doing the same? *priest can keep tank targeted as needed whole dps does dps*

I know you can change the FTL assist in isboxer for my dps toons and put them in an ATG without the priest so the priest will be (totally manual, so to say).. but since the pala isn't part of my isboxer "team" that wouldn't work. Is there a simple work-around?

I put a stopmacro and an assist at the end of my macros

    /stopmacro [harm, nodead]
    /a tank

So, if the target of the dps-toons is dead or friendly, they take the target of my tank, and if not, they keep there target.
Of course you need a seperate assist macro to change the target if needed.

Why not just have your spells target the unit you want to heal and have the unit frame target what you want to see?

/cast [@unitname, nodead, help] Spell name

    Dps:

    /assist tank
    /cast spel

    Priest
    to heal tank
    /cast [@paladin] heal

    to heal your target.
    /cast heal

I had my E bound to tankheals
    E = PW: shield
    Shift + E = Penance
    Ctril + E = castsequence of heals.

You could have your DPS target your priest.
    And then cast at [target=targettarget]

Or have them assist the tank.

so then in isboxer for dps keys i'd have to clear them out for FTL and such.. just keypress.. then make macros for the dps to /assist tank and /cast dps.

I knew that way.. but was wondering if there is a way within ISboxer that i can configure that?

You could go with a lot of options.

    Have your nuke/attack abilities on say 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Have macros on those keys, to this effect.

    /assist [target=focus,exists]
    /cast Whatever

If you have a Focus set (such as your Tank, or whoever you want the DPS to assist), they will assist.
If you don't have a focus set, that line cannot do anything.
And therefore you have the straight casting, which will have FTL targeting determine who they cast at.

You could also have the Priest heal, via mouse-over healing on a Grid/Healbot/Vuhdo frame.
And then use the Priest for targeting, which will have the DPS... FTL Assist the active toon.

Use VuhDo or equivalent for healing and have a simple assist tank macro for the priest only.

Then have your dps assist you (priest) as normal. I have run like this before and it is very efficient. It also lets you monitor the tank target before you dps assist so you don't pull something by accident in the middle of a fight. You know how frantic tanks can click on bad things when they shouldn't.
