ZA Heroic Dragonhawk aspect help

I three box and I was running ZA last night with a guild group. We got to the last boss with little to no problems then begins the wipe fest. I have no problems with the fight till he turns into a dragonhawk. We got lynx/dragonhawk as the bosses aspects for the evening. That being said does anyone have any good strats for the dragonhawk phase? Obviously stay out of the fire and be fast are top of my list. Is it supposed to be possible to get out of the line of fire he puts down after the fire cone attack? Ive tried just running around doing nothing else and I always seem to get hit by it, I'm wondering if this is a "broken" mechanic?
