Well I've always been a fan of freak specs and trying to make it work, that's why I enjoy for instance playing prot pally in pvp. Back in wotlk I got some healing pieces in my pvp spec, but now I use the full ret pvp gear to play prot. And I also have the crafted healing gear.
So yesterday I joined solo a random bg, and at the last boss in AV there is only 1 healer, but 2 geared tanks and quite some dps. So I decide to equip my healing gear that's been sitting in my backpack for like ever in the hope to throw a couple of heals out and use my prot spells to mitigate some damage. But hell, it was a complete joke. I didn't really oom, my damage was ok and I kept 1 tank up. I even ended up taunting the boss for a few seconds to LoH myself.
After the bg I started to play around with specs a bit, teamed up with a mate that plays a ret pally and queued up for some bg's. Stcking together the entire time and we were literally unkillable in the couple bg's we ran. We didn't try arena as he has quite a decent rating and didn't want to leave his team, but this was really working well.
So TLR, prot paladin spec combined with healing gear opens up some not so copy book possibilities and might actually be an option for boxing. Mana regen is allright with judgement, free world of glory heals, 2 bops, damage mitigation, ardent defender, avenger shield, ... ... just not sure about the spec (holy tier 2 is quite attractive). Anyone tried this before? Obviously not something to get gladiator, but at the lower levels it's definitely fun.
edit: right my title looks funny
