Default EQ2: Multiple instances on 1 PC?

    Hi,

Anyone had any luck with running mutiple instances of EQ2 on the 1 pc?

If so, pls post how you got them to run. Have tried several different ways to get it all to work together but I keep running into some serious conflicts which just crashes the other instance.

    Thanks,

    Nox.

EQ2 doesnt run well multiboxed... period.

I used to run 4 accounts on one pc, but I had to be really careful. Fully loading one client ALL the way in, most of the time seemed to work. However, if one crashes your going to lose most if not all the rest of them. I recommend running on garbage settings and just loading em one at a time.

I spent the better part of 2 years asking their support staff to fix the clients issues with memory, multiclienting, and just generally running like a fat chick through water even on high end systems... and they continued to tell me it was a pc problem, even with 4 gigs of ram an a 640 meg 8800 gts.

Their CS is a main reason Im not playing the game anymore, even though it is a great game.

    Default Same issue

I had that same exact issue when running 1 EQ2 account, when i tried to duo 2 it just made it worse, as far as i know they didn't ever fix it and it wouldn't be such a hassel if it reloaded like WoW does, but you have to restart the instance etc... with EQ2...

Finally got aggervated and closed my accounts.

Let them hate, as long as they fear.

I run 3 instances on my computer (e6600 + 6gigs of ram). The key is to have a huge amount of ram. I don't even need a quad-core even if Eq2 is CPU intensive (of course it would help).

1 instance is max details and the other 2 are low/medium. (8800gtx)

I was running four clients on my pc last night. AMD X2 5200+ overclocked to 3GHz, 4Gb memory, and 8800 GTX 786mb (or whatever) on a stripped down version of XP SP2 x86 (most services/excess stuff disabled or uninstalled). I'm running EQ2 of a 5 SAS Drive Raid5 set. Using innerspace (or another app) to lock down the FPS to 20 on the 'inactive' windows helps alot. I also run the 3 inactive windows at 'very high performance' settings and didn't have any problems running my newbie team through the RoK newbie area. There is a bit of lag at times when switching between windows, but it's very minor. I also noticed that each client takes ~ 500 mb of physical memory to run, so If you have less than 3GB of memory (or PAE is disabled), then you're going to have issues.

Once i get a few things figured out, i'm going to shift everything over to my 4x4 and try 6 boxing on 1 machine... Should be interesting.
