Default Who's Your Top Dawg DPS?

So I have a group going that I am hoping will be successful in heroics.. working on some character transfers to get it going.

I want to start up a good secondary group that will just destroy.

Curious how your groups are doing and who is on top right now? I ask here rather than the wow forums as you guys are obviously more aware of the issues boxers sometimes have maximizing dps.

I already have my "fun" group, I am just looking for death now =P

    Anyways.

In my experience, I've found that the easiest classes to get maximum dps from are demonology warlocks, hunters, and cat druids.

If I ever get everyone to level 85, I'm looking forward to running the following groups in BGs to raise hell:
    5x demon locks
    5x shadow priests
    5x frost mages
    4x rogues + druid
    4x hunters + priest
    4x dks + priest
    4x enh shaman + druid

Added: I recently read somewhere that shadow priests are currently the highest DPS class in the game. I don't remember if it was pve or pvp or even where I read it...
    Working on the following teams:
    (85) - PVP - Holy Paladin, Holy Priest, Resto Druid
    (85) - Paladin tank, cat druid, fire mage, demon lock, holy priest
    (80) - Dk tank, destro lock, bm hunter, enh shaman, holy priest
    (85 pally/lock) powerleveling 34 toons under 70

You can check max dps for PvE here: http://stateofdps.com/

I haven't multiboxed in a long while, so can't help with the ontopic question ;-)
    Good luck tho!

That site (and many others who show top parses) are not really showing the state of dps, but rather what can be done. Some specs are heavily depending on procs /crits and the buffs they get (as a shadow priest or feral druid you are much more likely to get dark intent in our raid than as an ele shaman)? What it shows is basically the top 200 parses where rng was totally in your advantage. Just an example that I make up:

    - if the average fire mage does 20k, then the top 200 there will do 40k due to extreme luck of crit procs
    - if the average ele shaman does 19,5k then the top 200 there will do 30k, since it's limited how many spells can crit extra

That would show you that fire mage does 10k more dps than ele shaman, while actually it would only be 0,5k.

Again fake example, but just to show you whats stateofdps is showing.

Best way for me to compare dps is compare the simcraft parses of each Best in Slot gear list per spec. That is way more accurate than stateofdps.

You could look at WorldofRaids or Wow Web Stats, or whatever the currently used raid parsing tool is.

Take a look at a lot of different logs.
Especially guilds that are as progressed as your current guild.
To get a feel for an 'average', or happy medium.

Someone might have an exceptional night one night.
But looking at a larger group of logs gets you closer to a true average.

I was more interested in your personal anecdotes rather than uberepeenraiders, but I will go peek around those sites.

And curse you svper, I still never figured out why my mangle macro I made did more dps than my shred one. You sir tell no lies.

    So far in Cata...

I've only really played Frost DK's and Feral Druids for DPS.
My Disc Priest's with their Smite spam (low 80's now) doesn't quite compare to either group at 85th.

Druids easily out DPS the DK's and by a large margin in worse gear.

Are you looking for pvp death or pve death?
For PVE, Arcane mages are very good at blowing things up very quickly.
Shadow priests are good dps, but the rotation is tricky to optimize.

Are feral druids heavily gear dependent? I could never put out very good dps with mine. I switched to boomer and bumped up my output considerably. I had better ilvl caster gear from healing, but not by a huge margin.

    PVE.

Im not sure on the gear dependence, but dps druid suffers somewhat from positional requirements.
