That site (and many others who show top parses) are not really showing the state of dps, but rather what can be done. Some specs are heavily depending on procs /crits and the buffs they get (as a shadow priest or feral druid you are much more likely to get dark intent in our raid than as an ele shaman)? What it shows is basically the top 200 parses where rng was totally in your advantage. Just an example that I make up:
- if the average fire mage does 20k, then the top 200 there will do 40k due to extreme luck of crit procs
- if the average ele shaman does 19,5k then the top 200 there will do 30k, since it's limited how many spells can crit extra
That would show you that fire mage does 10k more dps than ele shaman, while actually it would only be 0,5k.
Again fake example, but just to show you whats stateofdps is showing.
Best way for me to compare dps is compare the simcraft parses of each Best in Slot gear list per spec. That is way more accurate than stateofdps.
