i do alsow have 2 older comps

    a p4 2,8 1gb ram readon 9200 pro
and a dual 1700ish i think its my dads old machine i havet relly used it for anything yet i dont relly know mucth about it

    monitors i have 17" 19" 19" and the laptop has 15.4"

So if i wanna 5 box can i do that just on the laptop or maybe 3 box the laptop and use the other 2 machines for the last 2 slots ?

i play 5 on a laptop works fine, ive turned the sound off which i guess helps abit but i didnt do this for performance i did it becuase the sounds of 5 people doing things over and over got annoying.

your laptops spec is simular to mine i have a faster processor 2.33 T7600, 2 GB memory, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX 512MB x2

but the only sure way you can check mate is to get 5 trial accounts on it and give it a try.

i think you would want the to put the 2 19 inch screens together the laptop monitor at 15.4 is way too small, my very messy screen (just one screen i over lap the wow windows) can be seen in screenshots part of this forum, people go for slit across 2 screens but i like how mine is used to it now and very easy to swap between characters.

hope this helps you get started what classes have you decided to try first?

I play five accounts on my XPS M170. I has 2 GB RAM, Nvidia 6800 GO and a 1.7 GHz Penrium-M processor. The resolution on all of them are 800x600. I can play just fine. Wow seems to require way less power then i thought.

I do have all those wow directories sharing a single data directory, if that matters. It saves me a load of hard drive.

Awesome news! I have a Dell Inspiron 9200 with those specs (same GPU and about 1.8 Pentium M)
I really didn't think I could run 5 accounts... woohoo!
Although my 1 gig RAM might be the limiter :/
3 accounts + 2 trial accounts and I'm good to go

Yeah, I have limited hard drive space, so that's a big consideration.
But this prevents you from having different settings on your characters, right?

I have a Core2 Duo T7300 2.0GHZ, 512 meg Geforce 8600M and 4 Gigs of Ram (only reads 3). Upgrading to the 2x 2 gigs of ram made a huge difference for me when I started pushing my laptop for multi-boxing. My computer will get pretty hot after opening up 4 copies of wow, so I put it on a laptop fan and it helps. I couldn't do 5 copies of wow comfortably with it, but 4 was fine with extra cooling.

I dropped the idea of using my laptop. I have an old laptop that get's too hot running games and shuts off, so I'm too paranoid to use my good 'work' laptop to run 4/5 copies of wow and risk it over-heating.

I think you'll see a pretty big performance increase by going up to 4 gig of ram and opening only 4 copies of WOW. Just watch the heat output and rig up some kind of cooling system as appropriate.

RAM is cheap. If you're gonna do 4+ toons, get at least 3GB of RAM.
