Default Evolution of a Hardcore WoW player in time = multiboxer?

    Greetings!

I noticed dual-boxing just recently. I knew it existed but for some reason didn't really look into it until now.

Basically I'm a Beta player who's been playing a long time who has in time seen the beauty and potential of running multiple characters at once.

I currently have 9 lv 70 characters all lv'd without dual-boxing all currently on the same account (but not for long).

I have in time been very sad at the wasted potential of a 70 just sitting shelved and not used often other than for xmutes. Seems I only have time to raid BT/hyjal on my shaman and just casual pvp with the others.

I'm not sure exactly what I want to do with dual-boxing other than the fact I know I'm a fool at this point not to do it. I sort of like the idea of running my own 5 man instances and also I like the idea of PvP'ing in bg's owning face with 5 characters.

At the moment I looked into keyclone and will be buying another monitor to multibox as soon as my current work cycle is ended which should be mid march. In the mean time I'll continue to raid illidan however after seeing the potential dual-boxing the idea of pvp or doing dailies is just said to me since I could technically be doing 5 times progess in the same amount of time.

So for pvp and pve I'd overall like a good combination.

I'm planning on getting 5 total accounts and running my 9 off the 5.

I'm overall looking for a good layout for running instances with the current classes I have. I have 9 70's 1 of each class and honestly I"m having a hard time overall just wondering how I should break them up into the 5.

For pvp I was thinking of having a melee and a range/caster group.

Ex : Mage, Lock, Shadowpriest, Moonkin, Hunter

Ex : EnhShaman, Warrior, Retpali, Rogue

However for PvE I'm not sure exactly how to break them up and wondering what exactly I want to do.....

I love the idea of doing my own 5 man's but I don't want to get ahead of myself cause it just sounds hard to me. Regular probably but heroics??? Ouch props to those of you who do your own heroics.

In WotLK I love the idea of running my own 5 mans also.

Basically all and all this dual-boxing will be 5 times the fun and in time who knows what I'll want to do.

Overall I didn't know this site existed and would like to thank dual-boxing.com for making this information possible to us

Any ideas on class breakdown let me know plz

Welcome to the forums man, its great so another oldschool player around. I remember day 1 of live, it was a fucking nightmare on blackrock realms down queues as long as 1000, but things have changed and i dont care what people say blizzard are doing a good job managing the game, even though alot of there micromechanics are a bit stupid it seems, the game certainly has come a long way and we can see that. I decided to start boxing for the same reason, I was bored raiding after doing it for soo long and my guild wasnt progressing at the speed I thought it should be. So i thought i'd scrap it and try a style of the game that ive never had a chance to play in the past 3 years or however much time ive wasted on this game:P

Its kind of hard to think of how to break your groups up, but think about your specs first.
A general tip that alot of newer boxers need to understand is that boxing more than 1 melee class is considerably more difficult than doing a few casters, healer and so on. So maybe consider your pallies as either your PVE tanks/Heals or PVP healers.
This reason is because of autoattack at the follow distance can be upset and the character on follow wont always be in range, so there is a bit of twinking and fucking around each time you goto attack, well thats the problem i found.
Your in a bit of a different situation than most boxes and i will bet which ever way you go that you will regret and want to be swapping chars between accounts often:P
Dont forget, depending on how well you can handle it and work with it, if your guild is forfilling enough you can take a few chars on raids next time. We've seen Ellay's 4 shamans kill vashj not too long ago, and 2x5boxing kara. So there is more potential to go further than heroics in the PVE sense
GL with it man I really hope it works out well for you, i can guarantee that you will enjoy a change to your normal game that your playing each day, an new refreshment to come home to and enjoy.
PS what realm are u from

I'm totally with you Thomas. I too started day 1 and have actually quit several times because the endgame just fails for my lifestyle/schedule. Multiboxing though I think has me here to stay (or at least until the next big thing, hello is anyone else even trying to compete anymore?).

You'll definitely have more of a challenge doing 5 mans with 5 different classes than those of us who do 2-3 classes but there are many success stories on the forums. Like Opt said, mainly try to stick to 4 casters and 1 melee because of the movement issues. Given this I'd shelve your warrior and rogue for sure. Most everyone (sans Suvega a few others) whole-heartedly agree that Druids and Pallies make better MB tanks because of less micro management and better group aggro. You're going to have PLENTY going on with the other 4 so keep your tanking as simple as possible.

Healing I'd go with Priest/Shaman/Druid rather than Pally. Why? Because when you don't need the big heals they can participate in DPS easier than the Pally. I'd really lean towards the Priest for healing re: best group heals + all the rez you can eat.

DPS I'd sacrifice the uber dmg of Hunters for the CC, buffs, etc. of Mage/Warlock/Shaman (totems pwn, particularly grounding totem). For these you can setup a pretty simple cast sequence for each and get them down to one button for general dps. Something like

    mage = scorch,scorch,scorch,fireball, fireball, fireball...
warlock = curse1,curse2,curse3,shadow bolt, shadow bolt, shadow bolt...
    shaman = lightning bolt (lol)

I think most people do variations on these such that like button 1 is for non elites (curses wasted, just direct fire), 2 is for elites, 3 is for bosses, etc.

So in summary, this is how I'd do it

    Priest - HEALS
    Mage - DPS1 (CC)
    Warlock - DPS2 (situational CC)
    Shaman - DPS3
    Paladin - TANK
    Warrior - shelve
    Rogue - shelve
    Hunter - shelve
    Druid - shelve

The heroics are definitely do-able and we've got many success stories on here. I think there are some heroics that may very well never be 5 boxed but we'll see. Personally I'm keeping my eye on Skarlot as he's got a pretty definitive goal of clearing all heroics (and uses a Warrior tank so lol @ my suggestions ).

Hello again and thanks for the feedbacks

Since melee isn't a good choice actually it got me thinking of running a solo melee class for pvp with 3/4 range each.

    PvP examples

Example : Warrior MS, Holy paladin, Resto Druid, Mage

Example : Rogue, HolyPriest, Warlock, Resto shaman, Hunter

    One melee with range support.

Also Opt I started on Kil Jaeden but eventually ended up xferring to korgath a long time ago.

I'm currently raiding BT/Hyjal as a resto shaman named Nataliya in Burning Sensations guild.

I sort of can't wait to get started dual-boxing however since I'm a working 28 yo I'm going to wait til my work cycle ends mid march before I buy a keyclone and another monitor.

I just got a new comp a few weeks ago that is exactly what "MXracer050" said your specs should be. Just need to pick up another gig of ram and a monitor.

As far as PvE I'm not sure what exactly I want to do.

A part of me wants to take 5 crappy geared chars and wtf pwn gangbang some S3 glads lol while getting lotsa honor to actually gear up my alts for pvp.

Either way it's def going to be 5 times the fun

I recently started a new job which changed my hours a bit and was a bit more exhausting, i found boxing a good way to play the game, where raiding was killing me inside having to comit long hours at night and early starts in the morning. Boxing gives me freedom to not have to rely on anybody else and thats what i enjoy so much about it. Plus starting a new job gave me the chance to earn more money so i could do this the way i wanted in the end.
Keep is informed, gl with it.
