Thread: Question on 4+1

  1. #1

    Default Question on 4+1

I leveled my main WoW team to 60 and now have some RAF time left.

I really want to do 4 Marksman Hunters and another class. PvE only.

    Few questions:

    1. What class would do best with 4 Hunters?

    2. Is there any heroic dungeon possibilities with above group?

I know I can tear up solo content/quests etc...

With a priest, prayer of mending will bounce around among pets. Circle of healing is also nice. And lightwell.
    Working on the following teams:
    (85) - PVP - Holy Paladin, Holy Priest, Resto Druid
    (85) - Paladin tank, cat druid, fire mage, demon lock, holy priest
    (80) - Dk tank, destro lock, bm hunter, enh shaman, holy priest
    (85 pally/lock) powerleveling 34 toons under 70

Usually you end up needing a tank type for heroics.
At least until you outgear the content by a large margin.

If your team could be: 1x Tank, 1x Heals and 3x Hunters... I'd say yes to most/all heroics.

With four hunters, I'd be most inclined to either add a 5th Hunter.
Or go with a healer type.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

A tank is useless without a healer. It will basically be a pet with a large health pool. If you're going to try boxing instances with all four hunters, you need a healer. Priest is the best group healer. Paladin is the worst but you can tank bosses if you can bring enough DPS to drop them before the tank dies.

Someone on here runs five hunters. You could try that. Hunters + healer will certainly work if that did.

I am dungeon crawling with BM 5 hunters. Just started but so far so good.
I have petattack on 3 buttons for group pulling
    Button 1 = pet 1 and 2 (Mob1)
    Button 2 = 3 (Mob2)
    Button 3 = pet 4 and 5 (Mob3)
And this tactic works fairly well.
But then again I just started this group (Ragefire, Deadmines, W. Caverns) with no party wipe so far at par level.

With this group I have the most fun, more then with the other groups I am playing.

I also have a 1 Pally tank, 3 MM hunters and 1 Shaman healer, (level range 78 - 82) and that group goes like a tank true all normal instances. (TBC I did all heroics with level 71/73)

I have been playing a priest + 4x warlock group to 82 with just voidwalkers tanking and they had almost no problems in WotLK and BC instances so I'd guess a priest + hunters team should work out quite good.

If you must run 4 huntes, I would say to go with either a shammy for the ChainHeal on the pets. Id would also only run one with a taunt unless you have multiple mobs. speaking on a lock composition team, when the pet dies, you have to have taunt ready on the other pet and stop all damage if you don't want the mob to come over and beat the mt pet's master to death before swapping to another pet.

prayer of mending on a priest requires damage to occur before it pops its heal and goes to the next target. issue isn't on the first pop, its on the second, third, forth, etc since you can't always guarentee that that target will take damage. If your pets are taunting around like crazy, this wouldn't be an issue though. roll with a renew ticking after combat and aggro sustained, but against some mobs, you are just going to have issues with a non-tank class, if not while you lvl, when you hit max lvl and then attempt content at lvl. blizzard screws entirely with the cap thresholds the second you go from 84.999 to lvl 85 that will be particularly painful.

anyway, best of luck lvl'in :P
Wondering what now will be the new pew pew class....

Go for 4 BM hunters with either priest or resto shaman. Get 1 bear as offtank, and turtle for MT. Have 2 assistence pets, I'd go for silithid (which gives fortitude buff). This is if you go for resto shaman, and shale spider for kings and some resistance buffs which is nice! Stack stamina gems on main + offtank hunters. Bind misdirection on all hunters and assign em to cast it on maintank pet, then spam multishot 2-4 times on all hunters. That will help keep aggro on your pet! Allways keep up mend pet, and get 2 pieces of tier5 on both MT and OT hunter (15 % of your dmg converts to healing on your pet). Get 2 stam trinkets aswell on both tanks. Aggro wont be a problem, healing will, so make sure you and your OT got a large HP pool. You dont need a healer in your group before you reach instances in Cata which drops 333 item lvl gear! Rest is easily doable as either 4 hunters + random or 5 hunters this is the way I lvled my hunters
