Thread: The new Wiki

  1. #1

    Default The new Wiki

I checked out and registered on the new wiki but the main page isn't even populated so... Are we supposed to just go at it or give Wilbur some time to setup some sort of structure?

The main thing I'm concerned with at the moment is getting content on there.

Formatting isn't even an issue, as I'll be reviewing stuff nigh on continuously and formatting it. I'd appreciate all help I can get with getting stuff on there.

A lot of the guides we have on here cover a wide variety of topics. The aim is to break things down so its far more managable and read-able.

I'm aiming to section things as "beginner topics" "advanced topics" "Class specifics" and tactics.

I'll write a more detailed post when I've got time, friday evening is a busy time for me

I'm happy to assist/participate, but not too familiar with the generic "wiki rules" and such. I could also check a wiki to read the wiki rules, I suppose. Heh.

Definitely a "Getting Started" which breaks down:
    1. Hardware - could cover How Many WoW clients per machine, ranging from CPU, Video, and RAM.

Then to actually go to a "Working Solutions to Multi-Box"

    1. Hardware Solution - covers Xkeys, Wireless Mouse, etc. There's a lot of good links found here in this forum.

    2. Software - covers KeyClone, Autohokey, Octopus, etc. I'd let the authors of those software maintain this part in the wiki.

Then to character creations - "Defining Goal" topics
    1. PvE - list various combinations. Each section can have "Class" broken down by Roles (tank, healer, dps) with their respective link to Talent Specs already in other wiki pages.

    2. PvP - list various team combos.

Another section I can think of is "Levelling as multi-box"

    1. Topics that cover Normal play, Quest Play, other links to Guides, even free guide, guides without collection.

    2. Topic about power-levelling with a higher level + lowbies. Aoe Grinds. What instances.

Another topic is "Level 70 & Gearing your Team"

    1. Perhaps add "trade skills" for multi-boxers if they choose.

    2. Other possible gearing up strategy with the upcoming 2.4.

    3. What instances are do-able. Heroics.

Then add the info about where to find other Multi-Boxer.

    1. What servers, alliance / horde. US / EU.

    2. Other games where Multi-Box is possible. DaoC, etc.

I would add "multiboxer instance boss tactics" to the list. I have read some very helpful ones on the site. Not always the same strat as the typical fight.

ok to add a page I found you can do this.

1st use the search function, for example: "Keyclone".

If there is no search results it will say
There is no page titled "Keyclone". You can create this page.
click on create page and then done, so what Wilbur will do is collate all the pages made into some kind of order.

Just add or edit content, if you add content and there is already something of that nature then either your input will be copied and pasted into something better or merged or deleted.

PLEASE dont feel bad if your content is deleted, we cant have duplicates, but more than likely things will be merged.

Hope you guys don't mind... I went ahead and started on a page.

    http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Instances

Thinking that this can be used as an index. Clicking on the instance will take you to another page with any tips and tactics, what group composition and level was able to fully clear it... etc.

I added the basic info for 3 of the beginning instances. It'll need to have some sort of formatting because it's VERY plain-jane, just wanted to get the basic info there to get started.
