    Default Finally downed Cho'gall

Yay we finally downed cho'gall on our mains.. sheesh it was epic MT died not too long into p2, few more time at 4% I died at 2% and only other tank, DK and rogue was alive, 1% heart racing, seemed forever, next thing achieve pops up and YAY.

Got the Tier shoulders as well, finally 4 piece woot

Was great, we werent going to down it way we were, so I suggested go 2 healers, use an additional dps, and it made the world of difference. Such a relief to finally down the bastard lol.

Got Alakir too around 57% on only 5 attempts so should down it after reset.

Grats. Al'akir is trivial compared to Cho'gall. It's a similar level of complexity as Ascendant Council. The real hard boss for normal modes in this patch is Nef. Al'akir is basically a retard check.

    Thank You

Al'akir didnt see that difficult, on the few attempts we had. People just need to move when they should from cyclones and in for the wind blasts. Nef we got too p2 and not too many attempts on it Yet, going for Alakir first then Nef. Nice to hit 10/12 at last and feel like we got a solid good skilled group of players together at last.

Grats on the kill. Nothing beats the feeling of slaying a boss that took blood sweat and tears to kill, after numerous wipes. And cho'gall is one of those bosses where the difference between a 4-5% wipe and a kill makes a huge difference. That said not sure if you do 10m or 25m, but all I can say is that the boss is way easier on 25m than it is on 10m, cause he is really depending a good setup. We killed him on 25m somewhere in january, still in more than half blue gear. Can't recall us having had any problems repeating the kill afterwards. In the last month we haven't really bothered killing him as we focus on hard mode progress in other instances and ppl have their shoulders anyway. Until a week or 2 ago, when we had 3 new trials who still needed the shoulders, so on night before lockout reset we went their for a quick 10m. At least that was what we were hoping for. think we spend a good 2 hours wiping on him before we had the strategy adapted from 25 to 10. I play ele shaman and I typically just move out of goo, nuke boss and switch to add when it appears. Aoe worms and switch back to nuke chogall. But on 10m, I had to dispell MC, slow adds, interrupt big add, run back and forward. Guess it comes down that in 10m one player has way more tasks than in 25m where it's more spread.

About al'akir: he is indeed confusing at first, it's all about surviving the first phase. Once that's nailed down, it's basically just dealing with the ads that spawn and make sure to use the buff as smart as possible. We ending up just gathering the adds. Last phase really depends on how well u can move as a raid. We used to save bloodlust for that phase, start at the very top, move down, move down to the bottom, move 1 up, move to the top, etc. It's basically a phase where 1 slacker can keep wiping the raid.

About nefarian: he was pretty challenging in our gear back then. Since every tank has a reliable interrupt, that saved us some trouble in P2. We used some weird strategy with a hunter and a special pet in P3, and tank him at the outer edge of the room. For 25mans we changed that tactic to tank him in the middle, and kiter uses the outer ring of the room. The tank keeps turning the boss around, melee/ranged stand stacked on the side that has no fire. Pretty straight forward.

The thing now is to make smart choices on how to progress: al'akir gives shit gear unless u are lucky. Nef drops the tier helms, which can make up the 4p T11 bonus (which is like very important for an ele shaman for example), it means that your raid gears up double as fast. Al'akir unlocks throne of the 4 winds hard mode, which is pretty challenging but again loot are off pieces.
Killing nefarian opens a few easier hard modes such as atramedes, chimaeron & maloriak. Cho'gall opens up easy halfus hc, but the others 3 are among the hardest in hc mode.

Either way, have a blast & good luck.

I get the feeling that most of the folks that post here focus on boxing, so don't have much experience in raids. I'm only 9/12 myself and haven't set foot in a (non-BH) raid in over a month. I'm having too much fun leveling up more teams and getting as many guild toons through BH as possible each week - last week we got 60 through and should hit 75 this week

Anyway, your accomplishment is fairly rare for folks on these boards, so congrats and we look forward to your stories of downing all Al'Akir and Nef!

@ Zenga, we 10 man raid. It is actually 4 of my guildies, 1 being myself and 5 from another Guild and 1 pug DK Tank who raids with his guild on his alt, and used his Tank for us, 3 days a week.

My guild was 8/12 for ages, and kicked out some idiots and havent been able too recruit for a full 10 core grp since.

But we semi merged without leaving our guilds and raid 3 nights a week with the same people.

Yeh I did some research on Al'akir and need to do some more before tomorrows raid, as I am the hunter who is assigned too killing those storm ads in p2 and I have not quite grasp the buff thing yet, I think I understand too wait until 3 ads are out then kil them off 1 at a time based on the buff thats on the boss.

Just wish we could box raids lol... Im not that good too do the amazing thing you guys do, heck I cannot even box 5, where its a tank, healer and 3 dps, so I use 4 mages and 1 priest or... in heroics 3 dps usually mages and priest and fiance on his pally tank.. some go well some do not, but its all good either way.

    Thanks alot Mercurio

I really enjoy raiding, was ready too leave realm with just my main, as its low pop and too many stupid people, but we have a great 10 core so hopefully Heroic Halfus will fall this week.

I still havent levelled more teams, really need too /sigh

What should have been a Kill on Ala'kir yesterday was 3 hrs on wipe fest. Phase 3 so many times which is suppose to be a kill each time, lead too far too many 5% wipes arggggggg the headaches.

What an annoying fight, avoiding cyclones in p2 while killing ads at the exact right time for the buff all the way to phase 3 time and time and time again.

Oh well next week should have it, but really its a fight I don't enjoy much at all.

Got to down it to get onto Nefarian.

Downed Cho'gall easily again, pretty much have that on farm basically everything except Ala'kir and Nefarian.

Fun of raiding with 3 hrs of none stop wipes.

Not an encounter Im looking forward to again but got to do it QQ

Go for nefarian mate, then you have a series of easy heroics (well easy ... doable). We wanted to save magmaw heroic as one of the later, and got him down in less than 2 hours last night. He drops tier 372 hands. Chimaeron and maloriak and atramedes are doable as well. I'd compare the difficulty of the fights with nefarian to be honest.

In my opinion Atramedes heroic is one of the easiest heroics. The differance between normal and heroic atm is so little its not even funny.

There are also some addons out there that should help handling the shields (make a search for atramedes on curse), which should make the fight even more easier.
    Kaat/Laat/Maat <Forte>@EU-Boulderfist(very old team)
    CalebX/CalebY/CalebZ/CalebW@EU-Tarren Mill(rank1 in 5v5 )(shaman pvp team)
    Maata/Maatb/Maatc/Maatd@EU-Tarren Mill(old pala pve team)
    Calebpa/Calebhu/Calebhh/Calebhg/Calebd@EU-Draenor(current pve team)

Shania, you ain't gonna get any more pro advice about raiding than you got from Maat!

There is a little twist to atramedes hc. If you have 1 dick in the raid who can't move out of goo, it can be frustrated as hell on 25m mode. Given that recruiting for most guilds to get a competitive roster going is really hard nowadays, you'd better off just leaving the players who can't move out of goo out and 23 or 24 man it. It's one of those fights were 1 tool can wipe the raid.

On 10m mode however you don't require any tactics at all. Just spread out around the boss and go.
