And you have jamba for individual heals as needed (but thats way to slow in combat I know).

But I havn't been in a BG for months and months so not really sure.

That business of not haveing guys in the same group all the time in BG's ticks me off a lot also.
Not being in the same group can suck depending on your composition.
For my current team, the healer heals anyone I want via the Grid Frame.
And the DK's don't have party specific stuff, so it doesn't impact me.
With party-wide shammy buffs, splitting the team absolutely sucks and there's nothing we can do about it.

I find it easier to click on a Grid frame for heals, than to have a bunch of macros on keybinds; I'm already using a ton of keybinds.
I am spamming one of three keys, pretty much constantly while the battle is going.
So don't have the time to stop my spamming DPS, to move my fingers to other keys.

The far left column (my toons) naturally has priority.
But in BG's, being able to heal others just by doing the same click on their frame that I do on my own...
And combine that with Death Grip and DPS spam...
Lets my healer save people who would otherwise die.
My DK's aren't losing statistics, like honor kills or killing blows... they're actually gaining on kills via this tactic.
And keeping people alive with a healer, makes a far greater impact in BG's than killing the other side.

It isn't hard to be in the top six or seven players for Honor Kills, every AV win or lose.
My Pally is almost always top healer, for sure top three in 95% or more of the games.
The DK's usually share the killing blow lead, for both sides too.
