    Default strange behaviour of keyclone in in dual-machine setup regargind modifier keys

    Hi!

    yesterday i set up my multiboxing environment which comprises two machines:

    - a macbook pro notebook (running WinXP!!) which runs my 4 toons
    - my old PC desktop machine (WinXP) which i use for playing the main char

    i installed keyclone on both machines and connected them to each other.

    to test the keyclone setup, i started notepad as editor to verify proper key duplication.

    what happend?

    * when pressing letters on my destop-machine without modifier keys (e.g. SHIFT) the same letters appeared on my notebook => works fine!

    * when pressing letters on my notebook-machine without modifier keys (e.g. SHIFT) the same letters appeared on my desktop => works fine!

    * when pressing SHIFT+letters on my destop-machine (e.g. SHIFT-a, SHIFT-b, etc.) capital letters appeared on my desktop-notepad, BUT small letters appeared on my 'remote' notebook-notepad => ERROR!

    * BUT, when doing the same the other way round - pressing SHIFT+letters on my notebook, captial letters appeared on my desktop-notebook => works fine

    So, my problem is to understand, why the SHIFT key is ignored the one direction but works as intended the other way?

    Maybe someone ran into a similar problem in the past and had found out a solution to this issue?

    thanks a lot in advance !

    ok... so you are on a mac book pro running an emulator... hmm...

    i'll do what i can

    I forgot to mention, that i'm not using any emulation software like Parallels to run windows on the macbook . WinXP is running natively on the mac hardware (i used BootCamp to setup a dual-boot configuration)

    Is there maybe a problem, that the SHIFT key sent by the Desktop-PC-keyclone is not properly interpreted by the Macbook-keyclone and therefore ignored?

    Furhtermore, when i was holding down e.g. SHIFT-s on my Desktop-machine, a sequence of captial 'S' was outputted on my desktop-notepad
    and a corresponding sequence of small 's' letters was outputted on my 'remote' notepad, EXCEPT a captial 'S' now and then

    Desktop: SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS...
    Remote: sssssssssssssssssSssssssSssssss...

    That was the moment i got totally confused and rejected my "illegal SHIFT-key code"-hypothesis

    that is very odd. the shift-up would have to be sent in order to go from S to s. but that doesn't get sent until you release the key (the shift-up originates from windows)

    it's on the list... so i'll check it out and see what i can do

    You know when I was doing five toons on five computers I ran into this problem as well... but only in chat. When I used a modifier key to call a hotbar slot it worked fine... but when I opened chat on all five characters to do something silly like "/s We are FREAKS!" whatever toon had focus would say "We are FREAKS!" but all the other toons would say "we are freaks1". Very strange.

    I'm having the same issue.

    Main box is Vista (don't know if this may be a reason?) Box 2 is XP.

    1 -> 2 = Shift doesn't send when typing.
    2 -> 1 = Works fine.

    Result being I have to mouse over to the second machine to have the girls say something.

    Otherwise I get "Hello!" and "hello1".

    I've had the same problem since last August (search for Otlecs), and it's still a problem for me today so I wouldn't hold your breath.

    I imagine the problem is that it just doesn't happen for most people, so it's near impossible to track down.

    Interestingly, in my environment, it doesn't happen with all my machines either. XP broadcasting to Vista works reliably with all keys, whereas XP to XP doesn't!

    I've worked around it with a jury-rigged setup consisting of Multibox and KeyClone, but if I ever get the motivation to start playing with it again will take a look at one of the other all-in-one solutions.
