his account got hacked and it wasn't blizzard so im in the clear. It wasnt my fault either this is the 2nd account he has gotten hacked.
Hacked as in he gave the account info to so many people that someone violated that trust I'd wager... Sharing accounts is VERY stupid unless you know the people IRL and have the ability to knock them around when they fuck you.

And even then. You cannot really know which keylogging sites your mates might visit just when the keyloggers found the hole in the AV+Firewall combinations he is using.

Same situation I have. Unfortunately I have to stop triple boxing because of the account name problem, I am not going to level any more only to find out that my characters are banned. When I have a job I'll go straight into 5-boxing however but I'm still in high school and can't even afford 3 WoW's.

is there this big of a chance of it happening then?

At the moment I use 2 accounts of my own, and 1 of my best friend's nephew, who rarely ever plays.
    they're already 70 so :x

If they catch you, I doubt they'll let you keep the accounts.

Blizzard seems to take a ban first and ask questions later approach. If you're multiboxing and you obliterate someone in PVP or even just run through IF (as someone already said) you'll probably be reported. The next step is getting banned or contacted to prove that you're the person you said you were when you registered.

If you continue to use the account will you get banned again? maybe yes maybe no.

I directly violated the conditions in which I registered two of my US WOW accounts.

I had 3 accounts, (before my multiboxing days, I just liked having diff characters on diff accounts) and the computer I was using had keylogging software on it.

When I first got banned, I was super pissed because I thought it was because I was playing from China. One of the emails was a generic "contrary to the essence" BS but the other was more detailed and said the character: Zhaoxi did something. Now I didn't have any characters named Zhaoxi but i've lived in China long enough to know that is a Chinese name. I'm guessing my account was used to do some RMT activity without my consent.

I requested to have my 3rd account closed until I could buy AV software and format my PC.

After a couple weeks of one way communication, (bliz just uses canned responses and noone seems to write their own replys) I got the first account back but not the other two. One of the emails said something about me violating the registration procedures. I bought my one account while I was back in the US for Christmas, but the other two were just CD keys. When I tried to register them, I couldn't because the WOW registration site stops working when you're trying to access that part of it from China. So I did what any addict would do and bypassed that little problem with an IP proxy. Voila, two accounts registered without the need to purchase a flight back to the United States of America.

I didn't want to let one of those accounts go, so I wrote more emails to Blizzard and kept faxing my personal information, then after a month (around 6 weeks in total) I had two out of three of my accounts back. The last one I didn't even try to get back because I didn't have any characters worth saving on it and I figured it was a chance to cut my monthly expenses down.

Moral of the story. Blizzard might actually give a shit if you're not doing anything contrary to the essense of the game. I got my accounts back after they took 6 weeks to thorougly analyze what I was doing with them. I even violated a term, but I still got it back.

A company will put these rules in place so they can enforce them if someone is abusing the system and they can choose to look the other way if you're not. The account sharing portion of the terms are more than likely there so you do not devalue the time of the game by having one character power leveled (whether by a company or a group of friends) and it just absolves so many he said she said headaches. They can simply ban the account if they feel there is even a hint that you're doing something that harms the game. If you're not doing something that harms the game? Yep you don't get banned because no one ever knows.

As far as multiboxing with accounts not in your name? again, maybe yes maybe no.
